CLOTHES-LINE HOOK.

To (ZZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD Fon'riun, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and tate of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Line Hooks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved clothes line hook, one object of the invention being the provision of a two-part hook in which the clothes line engaging member may be rotated and locked to tighten the line.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a clothes line hook, which is simple, durable and inexpensive in construction, and which in use is thoroughly efficient and practical.

In the accompanying drawings :-Figure l is a perspective view of the complete hook, with one end of a clothes line attached. Fig. 2 is a section through the complete hook. Fig. 3 is a reverse plan view of the base. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the other member of the hook.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates the base meml er and 6, the line engaging member of the hook.

The base member is provided with the attaching apertured ears 7, and is provided with the circular opening 8, the inner face of the base being provided with the double diametered annular groove 9, about the opening. The other member consists of a malleable metal line engaging hook 10, having formed integral therewith the boss 11, which fits within the opening 8 of the base, the enlarged circular rim 12 being adapted to seat with the smaller diametered portion of the groove 9, so that the diametrically disposed lugs 13 of the rim 12, will fit with the diametrically disposed sockets or recesses 14 of the base. In assembling these parts the hook 10 is slightly straighter than shown, and after introduction through the opening 8, it is bent so that the two members cannot accidentally separate.

With this hook when the line 15 is attached to the hook 10, the hook may be rotated to wind the line thereon to tighten the line, by simply pushing inwardly upon the member 6 to unseat the lugs, and as soon as the slack is removed from the line, the member 6 is pulled outwardly and turned until the lugs seat in the recesses 14, the parts thus being held or locked in such p0sition.

A device of the character described, in cluding a base member provided with an opening therethrough and a double diametered groove concentric of the opening, said base also being provided with two diametrically disposed recesses in the rear thereof, a hook for rotation in the opening, and two diametrically disposed lugs carried by the hook for cooperation with the recesses to lock the hook from rotation.

2. A device of the character described, including a base member having an opening therethrough, the rear of the base about the opening being provided with a double diametered concentric recess, there being formed diametrically of the opening two re cesses, a hook for introduction in the opening. a disk carried by the hook for fitting in the lesser diametered portion of the first recess, and two lugs carried by the disk for fitting with the diametrical recesses to hold the hook from rotating.
