Be it known that l. Aurina l). Savane, a citizen of tl e United latates7 residing; atSidney, county of Shelby, and State of Ohio5 haveinvented certain new and useful liniproveinents in Shoes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to shoes and particularly to means for rendering the shoes waterproof at their meeting,r or fastening,- edges.
The object of my invention is to provide in a shoe7 means to prevent Vater or moisture entering the shoe Where the uppers of the shoes are fastened; that is to prevent the Water or moisture entering` between the meeting' or fastening edges,
A further object of my invention to provide in a shoe, Waterproofing means as mentioned which shall not detract from the appearance of the shoe or the comfort of the same to the wearer.
A further object of my invention is to provide Waterproofing' means as mentioned. which shall not add materially to the cost of production of the shoe. @ther objects will appear hereinafter.
Witl these objects in view my invention consists generally in providing the adjacent faces of the overlapping edges of the upper With strips of material7 the surfaces of which have a tendency to adhere. My invention further consists in providing a padding be tween the faces of the edges 'of the 'upper and the aforementioned stripe whereby the latter are maintained in close Contact when the shoe is being Worn. My invention fur ther consists in providing the overlapping edges, equipped as mentioned, with suitable fasteners for securing; the shoe and for holding said strips in proper contant. My invention further consists in various details of construction and arrangements of part-s, all as Will loe fully described hereinaft id particularly pointed out in the claims.
