To all whom it may concern: I Be it known that I, Bnn'r H. Bowen, citizen of the United States, residing at Gloversville, in the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Foot-Rest and Foot-Warmer, of
which the following-is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application isa foot rest, adapted to be assembled with a radiator, to the end that the feet of the operator may be warmed by-the radiator. I I
One object of the present invention is to provide novel means for connecting the foot rest with theradiator, and to provide novel means whereby the base portion of the foot rest may be adjusted vertically.
Another object ofthe invention is toprovide novel means for assembling and holding together securely, the constituent parts of the foot rest.
It is within the province of the disclosureto improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides inthe combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In carrying out the present invention there is provided a base 3 which may be in the form of a board, the rear edge a of the base 3 abutting against the forward side of the'radiator l, as clearly shown in Fig. 2.
' In the upper face of the base 3 near to the forward edge of the base, there is formed a concaved seat 5, adapted to receive the heels of the o erator. Secured to the ends of the base 3 is a U-shaped frame 6 comprising side bars 7 and a top bar 8. The U-shaped frame 6 is rearwardly inclined, as it extends upwardly, toward the radiator 1, the top bar 8 of the U-shaped frame being adapted to receive the toes of the operator, when the operators heels are received in the concaved seat 5 of the base 3. By means of securing elements 9', the lower ends of the side bars 7 of the U-shaped frame 6 are secured to the ends of the base 3. Abutting against the rear edges of the side bars 7 of the le -shaped frame 6 and abutting against the ends of the base 3 arebraces 10 which preferably are of triangular form. Securing elements 11 pass rearwardly through the side bars 7 of the U-shaped frame 6, near to the lower ends of the side bars, the securing elements 11 entering the forward edges of the braces 10,
as clearly indicated in Fig. 5. By means of securing elements 12, the braces 10 are connected, near to their lower ends, with the ends of the base 3.
The foot rest includes a pair of end guides. Each of these end guides comprises a plate 14 which overlaps the outer face of one brace 10, and overlaps the outer face of the corresponding side bar 7. Securing elements 15 unite the upper ends of the plates 14 with the side bars 7, and securing elements 16 unite the lower ends of the plates 14: with the braces 10, as clearly shown in Fig. 4. The plates 1 L, therefore, serve to tie together, securely, the parts 7 and 10.
The plates 1a are equipped with outstanding lugs 17 having vertical passages 18 therein. Slidably received in the vertical passages 18 of the lugs 17 are supports 20 in the form of vertical rods. Screws 19 are threaded into the ends of the lugs 17 and bear against the supports or bars 20, to hold the foot rest in vertically adjusted positions. The supports 20 terminate at their upper ends in horizontal extensions 21 provided with depending arms 22 having curved fingers 23 receiving the nipples 2 of the radiator '1. Owing to the arrangement of the parts last above described, the foot rest is supported entirely by the radiator 1, and it is unnecessary for-the supports'QO to extend downwardly far enough to touch the floor, it being obvious that if the supports were extended downwardly as above described, the floor would be likely to be marred, and, in addition, it would be difficult to sweep or clean around the, radiator 1, without removing the foot rest from the radiator.
It is to be understood that the fingers 23 may be. of any desired shape, depending upon the construction of the radiator l with which the foot rest forming the subject matter of this application is connected. In Fig.
6 of the drawings, parts hereinbefore described have been designated by the reference numera-ls' previously used, with the suffix a. In this form of the invention, the fingers 23 are of approximately straight line construction, instead of being curved as indicated at 23 in Fig. 2. Fig. 6 makes it evident that the fingers 23 may be constructed asis found necessary or expedient.
By loosening the set screws l9, the foot rest may be slid upwardly or downwardly on the supports 20, the plates 14 and their lugs 17 acting as guides.
