Be it known that I, HILDTNG LUND vIsT, a subject of the King of Sweden, and a resident of Floral Park, Long Island, in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Closures for Flexible Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to closures for flexible receptacles, such as rubber water bottles and the like, and has for one of its prine cipal objects to provide such a closure which shall be simple in construction, convenient and effective of operation, and which is adapted to be placed upon the outside of a receptacle.

The invention consists in the novel con struction, arrangement and combination of devices, elements and parts, as shown in the accom van 111 drawin s and hereinafter more particularly described.

In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a receptacle, showing one embodiment of my invention in place thereon; Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a portion of said receptacle showing a detail to be hereinafter described; Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1 and looking in the direction of the arrows, showing the receptacle in an open position; Fig. 4c isa similar view showing the receptacle in a closed position; .Fig. 5 is a plan view of another embodiment of my invention, showing the closure in its opened position; Fig. 6 is a similar view showing the closure in its closed position; Figs. 7 and 8 are detail views of portions of this embodiment.

In carrying my invention into eifect in the eu'ibodiment shown in Figs. 1, 3.; and 4, I provide a member 15, slightly'bent attits central portion, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4;, the concave surface of which member may if desired be provided with a groove 16. At one end of the member 15 I provide a pair of arms 17 and at the other end a similarpair of arms 18. $wingingly secured between the arms 17 by means of'a pivot 1.9 I provide a member 20, while between the arms 18 I provide a member 22 secured by means of a pivot 21. The members 20 and 22 are pivoted together at 23, to which point is also pivotally secured a ring or handle 24:.

The device is secured about the neck of a flexible receptacle, such as is shown in 1916. Serial No. 112,914.

Fig. and designated 25. The receptacle may if desired be formed with ridges 26 surrounding the closure above and below, in order to prevent it from slipping off or becoming displaced.

When it is desired to close the receptacle, assuming the parts to be in the position shown in Fig; 3, the pivot 23 is pressed inward. The first effect of this is to straighten out the toggle formed by the members 20 and 22, forcing the arms 17 and 18 outward slightly against the elasticity of the member 15. After the members 20 and 22 have been completely straightened out, the continued inward movement of the point 23 enables the. arms 17 and 18 to again approach each other.

The advantages of my invention will be obvious from what has been above set forth concerning its construction and mode of opforms shown and described. as it is obvious that various modifications might be made,

without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows: s

1. A closure for flexible receptacles comprising a rear member, and a pair of front members each pivotally secured to said rear member, the free ends of said front members being pivotally and slidably secured to and looking on each other.

A closure for flexible receptacles com' prising a rear member provided with a longitudinal groove on its front face, and a pair of front members each pivotally secured to said rear member, the free ends of said front members being pivotally and slidablysecured to each other'and adapted to lock one on the other.
