SCREEN-WIRE BACK.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS RoBmsoN, a citizen of. the United States, residing at Larned, in the county of Pawnee and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen-Wire Racks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to racks or stands for holding rolls of wire cloth or netting for use in stores.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a stand or rack and removable holders for the rolls ofwire screen which will permit the screen of any desired length to be unrolled Without removal from the stand or if desired the holders may be removed from the rack and secured to the hooks on the measuring table so that the screen may be drawn over the table.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a rack and measuring table embodying my invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same taken at right angles to the view shown in Fig. 1 and looking in the direction of the arrow; Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of one of the detachable roll holders; Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view on the line H of Fig. 3; and Fig. 5 is a partial side elevation of my rack having the measuring table attached thereto.
The framework of the rack may be formed of angle irons, having a rectangular base 2, with upright members 3, secured to the corners of the base and inclined inwardly until they join the intermediate rectangular frame 5, the front and rear members being then inclined toward each other at a greater angle and meeting at their upper ends, the two pairs being connected by a transverse frame bar 6. The frame is rigidly braced by the diagonal brace rods 7. At either end the horizontal base member 2 and intermediate transverse frame member 5, are connected by a pair of auxiliary upright members 8.
Each of the upright frame members 3 and 8, is provided with a series of books 10; the corresponding hooks upon opposite sides of the frame being at the same height and constituting a pair of supports for one of the detachable roll holders.
The roll holders consist of pairs of spring or resilient metal loops or clips 12, having a central eye 12 by which they are threaded upon a supporting rod 14:. It is obvious however that the spring clips may be se- Specification of Letters Patent.

cured. to the rod in any suitable manner. The ends of the rod 14 project beyond the clips so that they may be hung in the hooks 10.
In securing the holders to the wire rolls 15, the clips 12 are sprung open slightly until they can he slipped over the ends of the rolls into a symmetrical position thereon as indicated. The roll is then suspended upon the pair of hooks spaced a distance apart appropriate to the length of the roll, by resting the rod 14: in the hooks.
The screen wire may be drawn from any roll by pulling it through the slots between the arms of the clip-while the holder remains upon the hooks or the holder may be lifted from the hooks and hung upon the hooks 16, at the end of the measuring table 17, so that the screen Wire may be pulled out over the table before it is measured and out. In Fig. 1, the table is shown separate from the rack and in Fig. 5 as secured to the uprights of the rack. In the latter case it is obvious that it may be detachably secured thereto or hinged so that it may be folded for shipment or when not in use. In this form an adjacent pair of hooks on the uprights may support the holder so that the roll may rest upon the table in the manner illustrated in Fig. 5.
The framework consisting of the truncated pyramidal lower part surmounted by the wedge-shaped upper part, constitutes a very rigid stable structure, not easily overturned and furnishing a large surface area for the reception of the roll holders. The .peculiar advantages derived from the detachable holders which may be readily shifted from the rack to the measuring table, while maintaining the roll in compact condition will be especially appreciated by dealers in this class of merchandise. 1 have described in detail the particular construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings for the purpose of clearly disclosing an embodiment of my invention, but it is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be made within the scope of my claims and without departing from my invention.
I claim 1. In a wire cloth rack, wherein a frame is provided with upright members having a plurality of pairs of hooks secured thereto, a plurality of holders, each consisting of a pair of resilient loops or clips adapted to surround the rolls of material, and a rod connecting the clips and having its ends projecting outwardly therefrom to engage a pair of said hooks on the upright members,
2. In a wire cloth rack, wherein a frame is provided with upright members having a plurality of pairs of hooks secured thereto, a plurality of holders, each consisting of a pair of resilient loops or clips adapted to surround the rolls of material, and having an eye at an intermediate point thereof, and a rod passing through the eyes and projecting outwardly therefrom to engage a pair of said hooks.
'3.- In a wire cloth rack, wherein a frame is provided with upright members having a plurality of horizontally alined hooks, a measuring table portion having a pair of hook supports at one end thereof, and a plurality of holders each consisting .of a pair of loops or clips and a rod connecting the same, said rod being adapted tohang interchangeably upon a pair of hooks upon said upright members or upon said hook supports on said table. 7
4, In a wire cloth rack, the combination of a frame provided with upright members having a plurality of horizontally alined hooks, a horizontal platform adjacent said frame having a pair of upstanding hooksat one end thereof spaced apart a distance corresponding with the distance between the hookson said frame, and a plurality of holders, each consisting of a "plurality of resilient clips and a a rod. connecting the same, said holders being adapted tofjh-ang interchangeably upon a pair of :hoojks on said f-rairie vor upon the hooks, on Said platform; I
testimony whereof I a'iiix my signature.
