JAMES, a citi-Q Be it lmown that I, HARRY Improvement in Pole-Anchoring Bases, of which the following is a full and complete description and specification, reference being'hadto the accompanying drawing, which is hereby made a part thereof. This invention relates to that class of device wherein a pole or post is raised upon,
and firmly, though detachably, fastened to an anchoring base.
The objects and purposes of this invention are :to provide a stable anchoringbase for poles and posts; to provide a means whereby the life and service'of poles and posts may be greatly extended; to facilitate and cheapen the making of repairs where poles or posts have become broken ofi or rotted off at or near the ground, or of making replacements where poles or posts have been in any manner ally,;to improve the workability and effectiveness ofthis class of device. i
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction of the several parts, and particularly in their combination, as hereinafter shown and described, andset forth in the accompanying claim. y
In the drawing illustrating theinvention,
Figure 1 shows, in elevation, thedevice in operation in attachment with a pole or post. Fig. 2 represents the top view of cap B., detached from the remainder of base A., and from the other elements of the device. Fig. 3 represents the bottom view of cap B., detached as before. p Fig. 4 represents a sectional viewof cap B., in elevation, along line may in Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 represents a part of the means of attachment betweencap B., when'in place upon the remainder of base'A, anda pole or post F. raised thereon.
Figs. 6, 7 and. 8 represent various views of another element in the said means of attachment between the base anda pole or post. In Fig. 6 the element or part is shown ready for use in the device. In, Fig. 7 the general plan of itsconstruction is indi cated, wherein a flat piece'of metah'cut in the formshown, is designed to be bent along the various dotted lines into the form dis'-' Specif cation of LettersFatent.

B. represents ametal cap upon the top of base A., placed .in proper position'at the time the latter is. molded. This cap .isspeclally constructed in such manner as to insure fixed and rigid attachment to the remainder of base A. This is brought about byso'constructing the cap that viewed from. below, as in Fig. ,3,- it is provided with altern'ate. solid and hollow parts, into which latter: the concrete enters .at the time of molding and becomes solidified therein. This attachment between base A. andcap B is further strengthened and reinforced by the r odsa., a, etc, above mentioned; The
arrangement of these solid and hollow parts of cap 13. are best indicated in Fig. 3, and
will be more fully described hereinafter; Y C., C., etc, represent fourgsimilar rods designed to be disposed atequal' intervals about thecircumference of .pole or post'F.',
