DISH-WASHING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 25, 1917. Serial 110,164,431.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrn A. MASONICK, a citizen of the-United States, residing at LakeForest, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dish-Washing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in dish washing machines and one object is to provide a machine of few parts, cheap to manufacture and eflicient in operation. With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in theaccompanying drawings which form a part of this specification and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved machine.
Fig. 2 is a top plan-view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a verticalsectional view through v the machine.
Fig. .4 is an enlarged detail sectional view of one of the spraying nozzles;
Like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The reference numeral 1 denotes a water supply tank adapted to be heated by a gas burner 2 having gas supply pipe 2 and from said water tank 1 a service pipe 3 leads to the gear pump 1 which is connected by service pipes 5, 6 with the pipe coupling 7 which also receives the vertical supply pipe 8 which is arranged centrally of the tub l7 and extends through the packing nut 8 and bearing 8 carried by the floor of the tub Upper and and through said tub floor. lower branch pipes 9 provided with suitable spray nozzles 10 are connected by T-coupling to the said supplypipe and extend radially from the said pipe almost to the inner periphery of said tub 17. Each branch pipe 9 is formed with perforations 9 which perforations are encompassed by the said spray nozzles the extensions 10 of which are formed with perforations 10 to admit the screws 10, the threaded ends of which are adapted to seat in threaded sockets formed in said extensions 10, said screws being formed with the heads 10 Enmeshing gears 12, 13, 14: carried respectively by the said gear pump 4, transmission shaft 15 and stub shaft 14 may be driven by the handle 14 of gear 1 1 to operate the said pump 4:. Stubshaft 14 being journaled in the tub 17 and shaft 15v in bearings 15, 15', said shaft 15 being driven also by said gears and said shaft 15, further, being provided terminally with a bevel car 16 in mesh witha terminal bevel gear 1 a of supply pipe 8 whereby said supply pipe is rotated to cause rotation of sa1d branch pipes 9 in horizontal planes within the said tub 17. The tub 17 is provided with an outer peripheral band'l8 to which the supportin branch pipes 9 and the water directed from I the nozzles of said pipes, in opposite directions', enters said baskets from the top and bottom and washes and thoroughly rinses the dishes. A suitable drain pipe or faucet (not shown) is provided for the said tub 17.
What is claimed is In a dish washing machine, thecombmation with a tub, of a vertical rotatable Water feed pipe centrally positioned in the tub, a coupling in Which the upper end of the p pe is journaled and having communication with the interior of the pipe, mechanism connected to the lower end of the pipe to rotate 1t, and a source of water supply connected to the coupling.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two subscribin witnesses.
JOSEPH A. MA ONICK.
Witnesses:
