SGAR- BOROUGH, citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Gilead, in the county of Montgomery and Stateof North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful" Improve ments in Bottle-Cap Removers and Alarms,
of which the following a specification.
This invention frelates to an improved bottle cap remover and alarm, being particularly designed for use at stands selling soft'drinks, and has as its primary object to provide an arrangement whereby the surreptitious removal of'the cap of a bottle and the appropriation of a'bottled drink will be prevented. faces of the sections thereof confrontin are forme with a channel 25 which at its inner end, is provided with branches 26 .with the arms 13 and 14 leading into the recesses 15 and snugly fit-. ting within the said channel is a flexible conductor 27. The circuit wires of this conductor are, at their inner ends, led through the channel branches 26 and are connected by screw bolts or other suitable fasten' devices 28 loosely fitted through the terminal loops 22 of the said arms. At their outer ends the circuit wires are respectively connected one with Oneterminal of a suitably located alarm or annunciator 29 and the other With a battery or other approved source of electrical energy 30, while a wire 31 leads from the battery to the other-terminal of the alarm. Any approved type of alarm maybe employed and for convenience, I have c0nventionally shown the use of an electric bell.
As will now be seen, the cap engaging members 18 and 19 of the cap remover are included in circuit with the alarm 29 and battery which circuit is normally broken at the gap between the-said members. However, when in the use of the cap remover, the members 18 and 19 are applied to a bottle cap for removing the said cap, it will 01" the members 18 be seen that'the metal of the cap will close the circuit between the cap engaging members for sounding the alarm. Since both and 19 must be engaged with the cap in order to 'efiect the removal thereof, I accordingly provide an arrangement whereby it=w1ll be impossible to displace the cap of a bottle without sounding the alarm. Accordingly, surreptitious removal of the ca of a bottled drink,-at a stand selling suc li drinks, will be rendered impossible without warning being given to the attendant.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A bottle cap remover including a handle, arms mounted upon the handle and insulated with respectieto each other thereby,
the said arms at their inner ends being adapted for connection with a conductor including the arms in circuit with .an alarm and being formed at their outer ends withv coacting cap engaging members. 2. A bottle cap remover including a han- 'dle formed of mating sections, arms mount-4 and adapted to have a circuit closed therebetween by a cap engaged by the said mem-' bers, of an alarm included in circuit With the said members.-
4. The combination with a bottle cap remover, of an alarm electrically connected therewith and adapted to be energized upon the application of the remover to a bottle cap.
