To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, OLOF LUNDBERG and JAMES O. HARRIS, citizens of thef United States, residents of Kelliher, county of Beltrami, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in De tachabl e Pockets, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to garment pockets and particularly pockets for the trousers and the object of the invention is to provide a means for attaching the pocket to the garment which will permit it to be easily and quickly removed to substitute a new pocket therefor or for the purpose of repairing or cleansing the old pocket. Pockets of this kind s usually made absorb perspiration from the body and soon become soiled and unsanitary and it often happens that pocket knives, keys and the like will wear a hole in the pocket unknown to the wearer of the garment and frequently money and other valuables are lost before the hole is discovered. WVith our improvement the pocket can be readily removed and washed and when worn a new one put in place thereof before there is any danger of losing articles of value.

The invention consists generally in a trousers pocket mounted in the manner hereinafter described and set forth in the claims.

In the preferred manner of attaching a side pocket by our improved method, we provide a flap 10 stitched to one edge of the opening into the pocket and having the fastening devices at 11 and 12 for attaching the pocket thereto, the flap 10 forming a continuation of one wall of the garment and extending into the pocket. On the other side of the opening into the pocket a flap 13 is provided, secured as at 14 by the fastening device above described to the side of the pocket in substantially the same manner as described with reference to the opposite side, all of these fastening devices being entirely concealed by said flaps when the garment is in use. At the upper end of the pocket similar fastening devices are provided as at 15 and 16. To remove this pocket it is only necessary to disengage the buttons from the sockets in the plates and thereupon the pocket can be entirely detached from the garment.

I/Ve also provide a similar fastening means for the hip pocket 17 having the button and socket fastener at 18 and a flap 19 stitched to the wall of the garment on the inside of the opening and having the plates 4 mounted thereon to receive the buttons 7 which are secured to the pocket itself. This pocket is removed in substantially the same manner as the side pocket described. The usual flap 20 is provided for concealing the opening to the hip pocket.

WVith this-device we are able to detachably arrange a pocket in the trousers so that whenever necessary it can be removed and washed or mended, or a new pocket readily substituted for the old one.

In various ways the details of construction herein shown and described may be modified and still be within the scope of our invention.

We claim as our invention:

1. A garment having a pocket opening, a flap on the wall of the garment at one side of said opening and extending on the inside of the garment, a pocket having means for temporary attachment to the waist band above said opening and an edge for insertion between the Wall of the ment and said flap and concealed by the latter, and interlocking members comprising buttons secured to said flap and said edge of the pocket for detachably fastening the pocket in the garment. 2. A removable pocket for trousers having a fastening means at the top for attaching it to the Waist band and provided With an opening in one side to register with the side pocket opening of the trousers, flaps on the Walls of the garment on each side of said side opening and projecting into said opening the walls of the pocket on each side of the opening therein lapping by the vertical edges of said flaps and interlocking mem- 15 hers comprising buttons secured to said flaps and said pocket Walls for detachably fastening the pocket in the garment.
