Description

puff unduly large and cumbersome.
MORRIS BIRSAN, 'or New YORK, n
MAGAZINE POWDERAPUFF.
Application @led .Tune 11, 1919. Serial No. 30353108.-
Toill whom. it may concer/z Be it known that I, Molnus Binsax, a citizen of Russia, having declared my intentions of Manhattan, in`the county-'and State of. New 1ork,lhare invented a newf and Improved Magazine POwder-Puf`, of which the following is a full, clear,. and exact .descrip-. 10 tion.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved magazine powder puff` adapted to'contain a considerable amount of face powder without rendering the powler Il* other object is to permit a limited amount of powder -to `pass through the. puffY material .at each application thus Preventing the application of-too'much powder to the face other object-is to prevent refilling of the powder puii' with spurious face powder. A11- other object is to render the powder puff sanitary and to allow of conveniently car- A rying it in a box or pocket aiulwithout danger of spilling the powder.
- Vith these and other obliects in view, the invention consists'of certain novel features to become a'citizen of the nited States. and 5` residing in the city of New York, borough 20 and prevent-ing waste of the powder. A-nof construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the-claims.v
vA practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying draw ings forming a part-of this specification. in
which similar characters of Areference indi- 'cate corresponding parts in all the views-1.
Figure l'is a plan view of the magazine powder pui;
F ig. 2 is a cross section of the same on the Fig. 3 is al face view of the powder putl" and Fig. 4 is an enlarged cross section of a portionof the powder putt.
'45 The face powder is contained in a box having a box body 10 and a cover 11 telescoping with the box body 10. A sealing strip 12 of lpapel' lis passed over the joint of the box body and its cover 11 and is fastened thereto by a suitable adhesive material to provide a sealed box, the strip extending around the peripheral edge of the box and onto the bottom 13 of the box body 10 and onto the top 14 0f the cover 11. The bottom 13 of the box body 10 is concave and is provided'wit-h small apertures 15 .for the passage of the powder, and theltop 14- 'of the cover 11' is Specification of Letters Patent.'4 l i Patented Oct. 7,1919. I
convex andofspring. material to permit of pressing the topin'ward'to force the powder through the -pert'orations 15, it being understood' thatA the -top1J/after Vrelease of pres# The putt 204s made of vthe usual puit material, that is, a. textile fabric `having a pile, and this pui'20 is stretched across the bot` tom 13, and this stretched portion of the puit 2O isused for applying the powder to the face of the person using themagazine powder puff. This applying portion of the powder puit' isprovided with minute aper- 'tu'res21 or ,with an open mesh to permit the l sure returns to its normal positionras shown powder to pass through the punl to be rubbed u onto the users face in the Iusual manner. The puit' Q0 is passed over the peripheral edge of the -box and to this edge is fastened by stitches25 a fia-nge 26 of non-pile fabric gathered on the top 14 of thebox cover 11. Adisk 30 of celluloidf or other suitable stiff material is held centrally on the top 14 and o\;e1lies the inner margin-.of the flange 26.
A handle 31' is attached to an'eye 32 having' Shanks 33 passing through' the disk 30. and the top .14 to fasten thedisk in place and 4securely hold the handle; 31 in position on the top of the disk 30.
It wi-ll be noticed that on pressing the top 14'son1e of the powder in the body 10 of the 'box is forced through the apertures 15 and through the apta-tures 21 onto'the pile of the puti' 20 to be rubbed onto the face or other part of the body ofA the user.
It .will also be noticed that normally the powder is confined in the box and only a small quantity is forced out'on each action of the top 14 of the box cover 11,1and hence the to the face thereby preventing Waste of the powder.
It wlllfurther be noticed that the box forms an integral partof the powder puff and the box cannot be filled with spurious goods as it would be necessary to completely disassemblethe parts forming the-magazine powder puit'.
rI`he magazine.' powder puil' can be convenientlxV carried in a bag, or other receptacle.
without danger of spilling the powder.
I'laring thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure 'by Letters Patentzn 1. A magazine powder puit comprising a 'user is not liable to apply too much powder box having a body, a oover'flttng onto thebody and a sealing band extending over the joint of the .body and cover, the body hav'- ng a Ape-l'forate concave bottom and the Acover having a convex spring top, a puff inclosng the said box and having a perforate zpplying portion extendingfover and spaced from the said perforate bottom, and means attaching' the 4said powder puff to the box covel". Y' v 2. A nlagaine powder puff, comprising a box having a body, a' oove fitting' .onto the body and a sealing band vextending over'the joint of the body and cover, the body having a' peljforate conoavebottom and .the cover 15
