UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DON A. BRUBAKER, ELIZABETH BRUBAKER, CARL F. BRUBAKER, AND MAX W. BRUBAKER, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
EYE-SHADE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 26, 1917. Serial K051598572.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, DON A. BRUBAKER, ELIZABETH BRUBAKER, CARL F. BRUBAKER, and MAX I/V. BRUBAKER, all citizens of the United States, residing at the city of Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Eye-Shades, of which the following is a specification.
The object of our invention is to provide an eyeshade with a band to pass around the back of the head to hold the shade positioned on the head in use which band is adjustable in the vizor portion of the shade. A furter object is to provide the vizor with an upturned portion to rest against the head and thereby give ease and comfort to the wearer and hold the vizor more securely positioned. V
The drawing forming a part of this application is a perspective view of our eye-shade.
Referring to the drawing: 10 is the vizor which has an upturned portion 11 which rests against the forehead of the user when the shade is positioned for use.
We appropriately slit the upturned p011 tion 11 of the vizor and press forward portions thereof as shown at 14 back of and under which the ends of the head band pass.
We prefer to make our eyeshade of very thin metal which can be lacquered or painted but any other suitable material can be used. By this construction a neat, light eyeshade is provided which can he quickly adjusted to fit the head of the wearer as the head band 13 only needs to be slipped into the adjusting slits where it is firmly held by frictional engagement of the parts. In the foregoing construction it will be seen that the up turned portion which for distinction will be called the brow band, forms an important feature as it better positions and holds the vizor than when left off as is the usual construction of cyeshacles.
Having described our invention, what we claim is:
An eyeshade comprising a vizor having slits therein at both sides thereof, the pertions between the slits being pressed forward; in combination with a narrow flexible band whose ends are slidable through said slits, whereby the shade may be adjusted to the wearer.
In witness that we claim the foregoing we have hereunto subscribed our names this 18th day of October, 1917.
D. A. BRUBAKER. ELIZABETH BRUBAKER. CARL F. BRUBAKER. MAX W. BRUBAKER.
