To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LJosnPH F. Dwrnn, residing at county of King and State of Washington, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Devices for Dispensing Tickets, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in devices for dispensing tickets, labels and the like and the ob ect of my invention is to provide a device that is simple in its plan of construction, efficient in its operation and in expensive to manufacture.

A still further object resides in the provision of means whereby access to the interior of any one of the units of a multiple ticket dispensing device may be gained without disturbing the other units of such device.

With the above and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel construction, adaptation and combination of parts of a device as will be more clearly hereinafter described and claimed.

ll accomplish these objects by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view in yertical cross-section of a ticket dispensing device constructed in accordance with my invention;

Fig. 3 is a sectional view on broken line Fig. 4 is a view inrear elevation of a multiple ticket dispensing device composed of three units shown in Fig. 1;

Fig. 5 isa view partly in cross-section and partly in plan of a modified form of my inventionwith one side removed; and

Fig. 6 is a view partly in plan and partly in cross-section of the removed side of the device shown in Fig. 5.

Referring to the drawings throughout which like reference numerals indicate like parts, thenumerals 7 and 8 designate two disks, preferably of sheet metal, that form the end walls of a ticket dispensing device and 10 designates a substantially semicircular circumferential wall section that is r gidly secured at'its two edges to the peripheral portions of the end disks 7 and 8 and serves to hold such disks in rigid spaced apart relation.

The half of the circumferential. wall opposite the fixed wall section 10 is formed by a substantially semi-circular swinging wall section 11 that is hinged as at 12 to the lowermost end of the fixed section 10 and is arranged to swing rearwardly as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. l to afiord access to the interior of the ticket dispensing device and permit ticket ribbon 13 to be inserted therein.

The upper end of the fixed wall section 10 is rounded as at 14 to form a guide member for the ticket ribbon and is thence extended outwardly and downwardly in the form of a shallow channel shaped shelf 15 upon which the ticket ribbon may rest and over which it may pass. The outer end of the shelf 15 is notched as at 16 to facilitate grasping the end of the ticket ribbon with the fingers.

The uppermost end of the swingingly mounted wall section 11 is flattened as at 17 so that it projects substantially tangentially from the wall section 11 and is adapted to rest on the u turned edges of the shelf 15 as more clear y shown in Fig. 3. The central portion of the flattened end 17 is cut away as at 18 and has a transparent plate 20 secured thereover as by a retaining member 21 so that the end of the ticket ribbon is visible as it lies on the shelf 15.

If desired means'may be provided for locking the swinging wall section 11 in a closed position.

The swinging wall section 11 is provided near its upper end with atension spring 22 having a free outer end that is arranged to rest on the ticket ribbon 13 at the point where it passes over the guide member 14- to restrain such ribbon from pulling outward easily and to revent such ticket ribbon from being pus ed backinto the receptacle afterit has been pulled outwardly past the end of the tension spring 22.

The fixed wall section 10 may have a.

rigid base bracket 23 of an convenient form that ma be secured by bo ts 2a to any suitable support or baseblock 25.

In the form of device above described the sides are fiat and without projections of any form so that any number may be arranged in side by side relation as shown in Fig. 4 to form a multiple ticket dispensing device and the swinging wall sections 11 are constructed and arranged so that they may be oper ated freely and independently to open and close the several units when a plurality of such units are assembled.

By the foregoing description it will read ily be seen that where this form of construction is employed it is not necessary to construct ticket dispensing devices of difl'erent sizes to meet diflerent requirements but it is only necessary to assemble the desired number of units into a multiple ticket dispensing device that will accommodate any desired number of ticket ribbons. I

The ticket ribbon lies freely within the device and may easily be inserted within when the swinging wall section 11 is in an open position, the end of the ribbon being laid on the shelf 15 in the proper position before the swinging wall'section 11 1s closed.

In Figs. 5 and6 I have shown a ticket ribbon dispensing device comprising a cylindrical shell 26 having one permanent end Wall 27 and one removable end wall 28', such device being provided with mechanism indicated at 29 and substantially'the same as shown in Fig. 1 through which ticket ribbon may be eXtracted. The removable end wall 28 is shown as provided with a flange 30 that may be inserted within the cylindrical shell 26, that portion of the flange 30 opposite the extracting devices 29bein removed as indicated at 31. The operation of the device shown in Figs. 5 and 6 is substantially the same as the operation of the device shown in Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive except that the ticket ribbon is inserted throu h the side and it is not so well adapted or multiple use.

Obviously changes in the precise form of construction and arrangement of the various parts of my invention may be resorted to without departing from the spirit thereof.

What I claim is:

A device of the class described comprising two rigid end walls; a rigid circumferential Wall section extending substantially one half of the distance around the peripheries of said two end walls and uniting said. end walls; an integrally formed guide member at the top end of said fixed circumfer ential Wall; an integral channel shaped shelf projecting outwardly and downwardly from said guide member; a swinging circumferential wall section hinged to the lowermost end of said rigid circumferential Wall section and arranged to be opened to afford access to the interior of said device, said swinging circumferential section having a flattened end portion arranged for the reception of a transparent plate and adapted to rest upon the edges of said channel shaped shelf; and tension means carried by said swinging circumferential wall section and arranged to. engage ticket ribbon that may pass over said guide roll.
