POT SUYPPORTER. APPLICATION man JAN-22.1919.
Patented Mar. 16, 1920.
"UNITED STATES PATENT ormon.
WILLIAM H. WEISEMAN, OF EMSWOBTH, PENNSYLVANIA.
POT-SUPPORTER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVILLmM: H. Wmsn- :rmn, a citizen of the United States, residing at l hnsworth, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful. Improvements in Pot-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a supporter for pots and has for its primary object to pro vide a supporter by means of which flower pots may be conveniently supported so as to dis ilay their contents.
An object of the invention is to provide a supporter of a simple substantial construction capable of sustaining the necessary weight.
Besides the above my invention distinguished in a supporter which, by simply changing the construction of a portion thereof, a pot may be supported from a wall or ceiling.
With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a sectional view through a pot showing my invention applied thereto and constructed to support a pot from a ceiling or other elevated structure.
Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional view of a portion of the pot showing my invention constructed to support a pot from the wall.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing that :lorm of my invention shown in Fig. 2.
Again referring to the drawing showing one form in which my invention may be constructed, the numeral 1 designates clamp, shown as two in number, in that form of my invention shown in Fig. 1. The clamp 1 forms one of the primary elements of my invention, while the hanger 2 forms the other primary element. Each clamp, as
" clearly shown in Fig. 8, consists of a single length of wire bent to have a major portion 3 adapted to engage the ribbed edge 1 of the pot and further consists of an auxiliary portion 5 that bears against the inner sur- "ace of the pot. The clamp is formed from steel wire so as to have a certain amount of resiliency between the auxiliary portion and main portion so that the curved extensions 6 and 7 on the major portion 3 will be forced under the rib of the pot and thereby allowing the clamp to sustain the proper amount of weight. By curving the aux- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 16, 1920.
Application filed January 22, 1919. Serial No. 272,599.
It is of course to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners than shown and each clamp have a plurality of other shapes and there fore I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.
Having described my invention, what I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, a clamp formed from a single length of re silient material bent to provide an upwardly extending substantially V-shaped suspending member provided at the lower end of each arm with a loop element adapted to ex tend across the outer face of and fit beneath the flange of a flower pot, the material being then extended across the outer faces of the arms of said. V-shaped member and bent downwardly and inwardly to provide downwardly extending members adapted to extend into the pot and to contact with the inner face thereof, said downwardly extending members forming with the loop members resilient clamps of substantially inverted U-shape adapted for engagement about the upper edge portion of a flower pot.
2. A device of the character described formed from a length of resilient material bent to provide a suspending member looped at its lower end to provide an outer gripping element and then extended across the outer face of said suspending member and bent downwardly and inwardly to provide a downwardly extending inner member adapted to extend into and contact with the inner face of a flower pot, said inner and outer members forming a clamp of substantially inverted U'shape adapted for engagement about the upper edge portion of a flower pot.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
WILLIAM H. 'WEISEMAN.
