Description
G. FELSENTHAL. POWDER RECEPTICL.v APPLICATION FILED DEC. 2o, I9I9.`
Patented July 20, 1920.
Gabnez @s'enfha `lower edge of the GABRIEL FELS'ENTHAL, or CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
POWDER-RECEPTACLE.
Application led December 20, 1919.
To all wwm t may concern:
Be it known that I, GABRIEL F ELSEN'IHAL, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Powder-Receptacles, of which the following is a specification. Y
y present invention relates more particularly to what are commonly called vanity cases and aims to-provide a simple and eco-` nomical construction in which the powder receptacle or compartment may be nade :and assembled as a unitary article and thereafter incorporated in they box or case proper.
The invention includes the novel feature of construction and arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and defined in the appended claim.
An embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which, s Y
Figure l is a transverse sectional view through the complete case and Figs. 2 to 5 are detail views.
ferring by reference characters to this drawing, the numeral' 1 designates the bottom of the case, 2 the band section or wall, and 3 the cover. The bottom section is preferably of concave form and is provided with an upturned marginal fiange 1EL which is designed to be spun over or engaged with a marginal flange or bead 2a formed on the pose of holding said parts together.
The powder receptacle comprises a pair of oppositely dished members 4 and 5 which are secured together to form therebetween a powder-holding compartment. The upper of these members is provided with a fllmg and discharge opening 4a which is designed to be covered and uncovered by a movable cover member 6. The members 4 and 5 are preferably' connected by a central rlvet 7 and the cover is preferably rotatably mounted and held in position by the same rivet.
Specification of Letters Patent.
. ing 4a, and anoth band section for the pur-v Patented July 20, 1920. Serial No. 346,345.
The said cover member is provided with a filling opening 6a designed, in one position of the cover, to aline with the filling opener portion is provided with a plurality of perforations indicated at 6b designed to permit the proper dusting out or sprinkling of the powder.
boss or projection 6c facilitates the rotation of the cover to bring the proper por-I tions in alinement with the opening 4a, and of course an intact portion of the cover may be positioned over the filling opening 4a to effect the closure thereof.
One of the members 4 and 5, and preferably the lower, 5, has its margin projected as indicated at 5a and such marginal pro- Jeetion is designed to be placed between the bead or flange of the band section and the flange of the bottom of the box or case and be held therebetween when these parts are joined in the assembling of the parts of the case.
The band section is preferably provided with an overturned portion or flange 2b which is provided with cut-away portions Z), designed to be engaged by lugs 3b on the cover' 3 for holding the latter in position. The cover may carry a mirror as indicated t 8, and the case may have' an enamel or other ornamental covering as desired.
Having thus described my,y invention, what I claim is:
An article of the class described comprising a box and a container for powder held in the bottom thereof and comprising two oppositely dished members, the upper dished member having an inturned periph eral flange, a. filling opening in said member, `a cover member superimposed upon said upper member, and a rivet connecting the central portion of said three members.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
GABRIEL FELSENTHAL.
