To all whom it may concern lie it known that I, Gnonon A. (311mm, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Collapsible Box, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in collapsible boxes, and consists in the novel construction hereinafter described.

An object of the invention is to provide a collapsible box for packing ice cream cones and other similar articles.

Additional objects will appear from the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a box embodying my invention.

Fig. 2 is a cross section taken through the box.

Fig. 3 is a horizontal section through the box in collapsed condition.

The walls of the box are formed from a card board blank the bottom wall comprising a folded-under flap 1 and an overlapping flap 2, the flaps being joined together by a tongue and slot connection 3. The blank is scored at the angles of the box and folded upwardly to 'form the box wall 4: and the front wall which is made in two sections 5 and 6 respectively, a score line 7 being provided in the front wall so that the wall may be folded back as appears in Figs. 1 and 2, so that access may be gained to the inner part of the box through the space above the outwardly folded section.

The end walls 8 are formed in continuation of the side walls, vertical score lines being provided to "form the side angles of the box.

At the base and top of the side walls are extending sections 9 and 10 which fold inwardly beneath the sections of the bottom and top walls respectively. The back wall is extended forming a section 11 which is separated from the upper edge of the back wall 4 by a score line, and the front wall is extended upwardly providing a section 12 divided from the upper edge of the front wall by a score line. The sections 11 and 12 fold over and interlock by tongue and slot connections 13 and 14.

A support is formed within the box, said support comprising a rectangular blank folded to form a back wall 15, a front wall 16, top wall 17 and a-bottom wall; 18, the angles of the support being scored so that the support may be collapsed against the back wall of the box when the box is in folded condition. The back wall 15 of the support is adhesively secured to the inner surface of the back wall at a point sufficient to bring the level of the top .wall 17 of the support, when the box is in extended position, at about a line midway of the height of the box. The front wall 16 has an extension 19 which islong enough to rest on the bottom wall of the box when the box is extended and to constitute means for support- The position of the parts when the box is folded or collapsed is clearly shown in Fig. '3. As previously stated, the support- ,ing walls 17 and 18 are secured to the back wall 41 of the box, and the forward edges of said walls 17 and 18, as shown, are in connection with the front wall member 16 of the support which is provided with an extension 19. The wall 16 and the extension 19 thereof are separate or detached from the front wall 5 of the box. This permits the support comprising the walls 17 and 18 and the part 16-19 thereof to be a folded upwardly to flat position against the back wall 4 of the box, leaving the side and front walls of the box free to fold flat in a lateral direction, which arrangement is shown in Fig. 3. A box of the construction described may be very economically manufactured and when collapsed ma be folded into a small compact space. I hen extended, the box may be readily adjusted for the reception .of the articles to be packed, and the articles conveniently packed therein for shipment.

When it is desired to secure access to the .articles packed in the box the front wall is turned outwardly at approximately a median line of the height of the box.
