IINVIENTOR YLy'zI lfu/tojzma ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
rurr' mos-ma, m. m n. roxyo, JAPAN.
subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing at No. 375 Minowa, near the city of Tokyo, Japan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double-Flow Form-- tain-Pens or Reservoir-Pens, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new or imroved fountain pen or reservoir pen and has for its object to provide a fountam pen in which two kinds of ink of difi'erent color may separately be stored and used alternately at will,',thus adding greatly to the usefulness of the pen. The pen according to this invention comprises two tubes, an
inner and an outer one, forming two chambers for storing ink of diiferent color respectively; and a rear and .a front head, each having two conduits adapted to convey the respective ink from the said reservolrs to the nib. One of the heads is fitted to the other in such a way that by rotating the same, the respective supply of ink may alternately be allowed to-flow out to the nib, or both flows of ink are cut off, according to the rotary position of one head relative to the other.
In the accompanying drawings in which one embodiment of the invention isshown by way of example, Figure 1 is a side view of the fountain en constructed according to the invention. ig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is across section taken'on line 3-3 in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a cross section taken on line 4-4; in Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is an end v ew of the reservoir end or head with its front head 2 re moved showing the forward end of the rear head 1. Fi 6 is an end view showing the rear part 0 the front head 2. Figs. 7,8 and 9 are sectional views of the rear head 1, the front head 2 and the nib 11, respectively.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is-a rear head to which is fitted, in a manner hereinafter described, a front head 2 carrying the nib. The head 1 is rovided at the rear end with the externally eadedpart which is engaged by the internallythreaded part of an outer tube or reservoir 3. This outer tube 3 surrounds an inner tube or rewrvoir 4: but is spaced apart therefrom so as to form an annular ink chamber, as shown in Fi 2 and 3. The inner tube or reservoir 4 is secured to the threaded flange part Specification of Letters Patent.

shown in Fig. 2. The outer and inner tubes 3 and 4 are provided with suitable covers 5 and 6 respectively.
. In the rear head 1 a conduit 7 conveys 7 formed at the rear end of the head 1, as
the ink from the outer reservoir to the nib.
ceiving the nib 11. Said screw 10 passes through a hole 13 which is continuous to the said bore 12 but smaller than the same, and engages a threaded hole 16 in the front of the rear head 1 as shown in Figs. 5 and 7.
In Fig. 5 a slot 14; is also shown as formed n the front part of the head 1, this slot bemg adapted to receive a projection 15 (Fig. 6) anchored to the rear end of the head 2. Thus it will be seen that the rotation of the front head 2 relative to the rear head 1 limited lay the slot 14 and the projection 15. Ink con uits 17 and 18 are shown in the front head 2 located opposite one to the other, one leading to the inner side of the nib 11 and the other to the outer side thereof. In Fig. 1 a suitable mark 19 is shown as provided in the periphe of the front head 2, and other suitable mar 20, 21 and 22 are similarly provided in the periphery of the rear head 1. Said mark 19 coiiperates with the other marks 20, 21 and 22 and serves to indicate the correct rotary position of the front head 2 relative to the rear head 1.
In this new fountain n constructed and arranged according to readily be seen that, when the front head 2 is slightly rotated in one direction relative conduits 18 and 8 will be in alinement, allowing a supply of the ink in the inner reservoir 4 1:0 flow out toward the nib 11. the

and 7 and conveys a supplly of ink from the mark 19 is brought toward the mark 21, the ink conduits 7 and 8 are now closed by the rear wall of the front head 2, thereby cutting off the flow of both inks, thus the pen is maintained in its inoperative state.
It is to be noted that in the outer and inner reservoirs the inks of different color may respectively be stored, and that one can alternately use at will either of the inks within the reservoirs in the manner described.
I'claim:
A fountain pen comprising an inner reservoir tube, an outer tube, and a head at the front ends of said tubes and comprisin front and rear members pivotally connecte together, said front member having a nib- YUJ I MUKOJIMA Witnesses:
