JEWELRY CASE.
APPLICATION FILED Nov. 29, 1919.

JOHN' BUTTIGIEG, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.
JEWELRY- CASE.
To all LU/tom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN BUTTIGIEG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford', in the county of Vinnebago and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Jewelry-Cases, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a case for holding jewelry and the like and the principal object of the invention is to provide a case which is made in the form of an egg and is covered with white kid to simulate the appearance of an egg.
Another object of the inventi-on is to provide pads in the case, one of which is recessed to receive theV article of jewelry, to prevent movement of the article in the case.
This invention also consists in certain other features .of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. l
In describing my invention in detail, ref-Y erence will be had to the accompanying vdrawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure lis a view of the case complete.
Fig. 2 is a view of the tw-o parts of the case separated.
Fig. 3 is a cross section.
In these views l indicates the case which is formed of the two halves 2 and The twe halves are preferably made of metal and this metal is covered by a covering -l, preferably of white kid. A strip 5 of paper or the like is placed around the edge of each half and the edge of the cover is folded over the strip and is suitably secured to the inside of the parts. A. ring 6 of paper or the like has a part secured to the edge of one half .with its other part projecting above said edge so as to fit within the other half Application led November 29, 1919.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug, 16., 1921,
Serial No. 341,361.
and thus hold the two halves together. The folded over part of the coveringr and the strip 5 act to frictionally engage the case and thus hold the two halves of the case in closed position: The lower half 3 is provided with a pad 7 of cotton or the like and this pad is provided with a recess 8 to receive the article of jewelry. VThe half 2 is also provided with a pad 9 and the face of this pad is adapted to engage the projecting part of the article held in the recess and thus prevent any movement of the article when the case is closed. y
The recess 8 is made te receive the article for which the case is intended. f
` It will of course be understood that the case may be made in the shape of other articles such as oranges and other fruit and in this case the kid covering would be colored to simulate the skin of the fruit which the device is intended to represent.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I, desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope ef the appended claim.
that I claim is device of the class described comprising a case 4of egg-shape formed of two halves, a strip .secured to the inner wall of each half adjacent its edge, a covcringrfor each half having its edges folded over said strip and secured to the inner wall, a strip connected with one half and having a part pro-` jecting therefrom Afor engaging the other f half, said strip engaging the folded over portion 4of the covering of each half and a pad in each half, 4one pad having a recess therein.
In testimony whereof I afx my signature.
JOHN BUTTIGI-EG.
