HEATER FOR BATHTUBSILAUNDRY TUBS, 0R THE LIKE. APPLICATION FILED Iuus 9,*1920.
.yy/ama i, UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
i WALTER OLIVER JARRETT, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, (TATU-LDA.V
HEATER FOR BATHTUBS, LAUNDRY-TUBS, OR THE LIKE.'
Application led .Tune 9,
This invention relates to improvements in heaters for bathtubs, laundry tubs or the like.
The object of my invention is to provide a heater adapted to support the bathtub or laundry tub and heating elements in the same for heating the bottom of the tubs and means for controlling the said heat.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, Vcombination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended. Y
Figure l illustrates a bathtub part in section constructed in accordance with my invention where the heating element is for gas, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a laundry tub constructed in accordance with the preferred embodiment of my invention where the heating element is electricity.
Referring to the drawings like numerals designate like parts in the various drawings.
Referring more particularly to Fig. 1, 3
indicates the ordinary shaped bath having water inlet pipes and water outlet pipes constructed in the ordinary way. This bath is s-upported in a heating chamberl which is mounted on legs 5. The heating chamber is provided with a bottom 6, sides 7 and the end 8, the latter being extended upwardlyat an angle similar to the angle of the end of the bath 3. The angle end of the bath fits upon the angle end of the heating chamber and is pressed down until tightly fitted into the top of the heating chamber t. The heating chamber is provided with-suitable heating elements, which elements can eitherbe' gas connections as shown in Fig. 1 or electric elements as shown in F ig. 2. In either case Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 30, 1921.'
1920. Serial No. 387,685.
the heating elements are controlled by the electric elements inthe heating chamber 4:-
with a suitable electric cord connection ,12.V
From the above description accompanied by the appended drawings, it will be seen that there will be no lost energy of heat and that the bath or laundry tub will` be heated so as to hold the heat in the water therein instead of allowing the water to heat the tub and radiate therefrom. A
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction of my invention will be clearly understood, and, therefore, a more extended Yexplanation has been omitted.
What I claim as new, is z- Anelongated heating chamber, means'for supporting the same, heating elements withinV said heating chamber with a plurality of controlling means therefor, and a bath-tub independent thereof and frictionally retained therein and provided with inlet and outlet pipes, said bath-tub being detachably fitted I within the heating chamber and the said heating chamber having one end extended upwardly at 'an inclination, the other end being substantially vertical, and the ends of the bath-tub being correspondingly inclined and' vertical, whereby the weight of the bathtub tends to wedgingly hold the same within the heating chamber.
