Be it known that I, J osEPHy F. LAMB, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at New Britain, county of Hartford, State of Cone* necticut, ha-ve invented a certain new and useful Improvementv in Metallic Frames,lof
which the following-is a full', clear,'and exact description.
.My invention relates to metallic frames and has for its object to provide a metallic frame comprising angle iron portions so' shaped and secured that the division line in the upper surface shall be at right angles to the axis of one of the angle Airons and parallelto the axis of the other, as distinguished from bein at an angle to the axes vof both the angle irons. It further has for its object to produce an angle iron frame, one member having a rounded surface to which the straight portions of the outer edges o-f both angle irons are tangential.' It further has for its objectV to produce a frame which is simple and easy to manufacture in addition to having the features referred to.
'- Heretofore, angle'irons have been made in which the Vadjacent ends were similar, resulting in a division line which was at an angle to the axes of both irons. This construction is .quite difficult to manufacture on account of necessary mitering, and, furthermore, the angular division line results in the formation of projections to catch on cloth-- ing and the like, or upon the hands of the;
user, and injure the same. These difiiculties are avoided in my construction.

1. In a metallic frame, twoangle irons having horizontal and vertical portions, the
portions of one Vangle iron terminating in the saine plane transverse tojits axis, and
the horizontal portion of the other extend'- ing beyond itsvertical portion and having its edge abuttingtheendv of thek horizontal portion of the first iron, and an angular member secured to said angle irons for holding the ends of tlievertiCal portions of the two irons closely adjacent and in angular relation to one another and the horizontal portion of each angle iron in the same plane as .the horizontal portion of the other.

` 2. In a metallic frame,'two angle irons having 'horizontal and vertical portions,v the portions of oneangle iron terminating in the same plane transverse toits axis, and
the horizontal portion of the other extending beyond its vertical portion and having `portions of the two irons closely adjacent and in angular relationto one another and the horizontal portion of each angle iron in the sanie plane as the horizontal portion ot thel other.

In a metallic frame, the combination Yof an iron having two portions at rightl angles to one another and both terminating inthe same plane transverse to its axis, one of said portions being horizoiitah a second iron having two portions, one vertical and the other horizontal, the vertical part of: the second iron terminating in ay transverse plane and the horizontal part extending beyond said plane, the ends of the two portions of said rst iron abutting parts of the second iron so that the end of the horizontalportion of said first iron is adjacent to they edge of said'eiztending portion ot the second iron, and the endy of the vertical portionof; the second iron is adjacent ito' the'eiid ofthe vertical portion ofsaid first' iroii,`and means for holding said two irons togetlier,A said eX tending portion having a rounded ysurfacel such that the outer edges of the horizontal portions are tangential thereto.
