AMASA S. THOMPSON, OF LITTLE FALLS, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR TO HIM- SELF AND LOUIS VASALY, OF SAME PLAOE.
IMPROVEMENT IN PAINT-BRUSHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,522, dated August 5 1873; application filed January 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AMASA S. THOMPSON, of Little Falls, in the county of Morrison and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachment to Brushes, of which the following is a specification:
This invention has for its object to furnish ready and convenient means for raising and discharging paint, whitewash, and similar substances, which are applied with a brush, through the brush, so that the fluid may be readily spread by the operator, the arrangement of parts being as hereinafter described; and the invention consisting in a rubber syringe and flexible tubes, in combination with the brush.
The drawing illustrates my invention.
A is the head of the brush. B are the bristles. C is the handle. D is the pump-syringe, constructed in the usual manner, consisting of a bulb, E, connected with a tube at each end. F is the tube that receives the liquid from the reservoir, and G is the tube which delivers the liquid among the bristles. At each end of the bulb there is a valve, so that the syringe is worked in the ordinary manner by compressing the bulb. The handle of the more elevated than the brush the syringe and tube may be made to act as a siphon.
This apparatus maybe applied to the spreading of paints, varnishes, whitewash, and for all similar substances.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of a brush, B, pump or syringe E, a handle, 0, and tube F, substantially as shown anddescribed.
AMASA S. THOMPSON. Witnesses:
