COMBINATION TABLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 4, 1922.
Application filed August 13, 1920. Serial No. 403,371.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GABRIEL FLORESKUL, a citizen of Ukrainia, residing at Toronto, Province of Ontario, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Tables, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in foldable tables and chairs particularly for use in connection with camping or exploring expeditions or the like, and has for its object the provision of a device of simple construction which combines a foldable table wit-h a chair.
Another object of the invention is to provide a foldable table compactly arranged and adapted to be quickly converted into a chair for immediate use when desired.
WVith these and other objects in view, which will appear as the nature of the invention isbetter understood, the same consists in certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and combination of elements, as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Referring to the drawing, illustrative purpose only Figure 1 is an end view of the device set up for use as a table.
Figure 2 is a side view thereof.
Figure 3 is a side view illustrating the use of the device as a chair.
Figure 4 is an end view of the device folded for transportation and,
Figure 5 shows the parts folded in top plan view.
The table comprises two box-like elements 10 and 11 hinged together at their meeting edges as at 12 and constituting with their upper faces the table top. To the inner faces of the side walls of the elements 10 and 11 are pivotally secured as at 13 and let, the legs 15 and 16, which are braced against the elements 10 and 11 by links or rods 17 and 18 respectively, pivotally secured at one end to the inner side walls of the elements 10 and 11, engaging with their hooked ends 19 and 20 pins 21 and 22 of the legs.
The legs 15 are connected by means of hinges 23 to supporting foot parts 24, which, when the legs are used to support the device when set up as a table, are connected by which is for clamps 25. The legs 16 have secured to their lower ends by means of the hinges 26, foot parts 27 which, when the device is to be used as a chair, are held in alignment with the legs 16 by means of clamps 28. In this position of the parts the lower edges of the box-like elements 10 and 11 are held by links 29 pivotally secured at one end as at 30 to the inner Wall of one of these elements and engaging with their hooked ends 31 pins 32 in the inner walls of the elements.
It will be clear that in the position of a table illustrated in Figure 2, the meeting inner edges of the elements 10 and 11 in con nection with the hinge 12 will support and hold the table in its center when it is eX- tended.
From the foregoing the operation of the device will be apparent without further explanation, and it will also be clear that changes may be made in the minor details and general arrangements of the parts without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- 1ters Patent of the United States is as folows- A table of the character described c0mprising in combination with two box-shaped elements hingedly connected at their upper edges, pairwise arranged legs pirotally secured within said elements, braces also pivotally connected to the inner side walls of said elements and adapted to engage with their outer hooked ends pins on said legs, foot parts hinged to said legs, the foot part of one pair of said legs adapted to be swung into alignment with said legs, while the foot parts of the other pair are held parallel with the legs for allowing the use of the table as a chair, and clamps holding said foot parts in alignment with said legs and a clamp rod pivotally secured to the lower edge of the side walls of one of said box-like elements and engaging with its hooked other end a pin in the inner side walls of the other elements, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have atfixed my signature.
GABRIEL FLORESKUL.
