To all whom z'tmay concern:
Be it known that I, PETER ELENCHUK, a citizen of Ukraine, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain. new and'useful Improvements in Tool Handles, of. which the following is a specification.
This invention. relates to certain new and useful improvements in tool handles and has particular reference to a handle for sup porting a blade or tool at each end thereof. The primary object of the invention has reference to a tool handle provided with a screw driver blade or similar implement adj ustablymounted upon one 'end thereof while the other end of the handle carries a disk tool in the form of a v threading die or wrench head withthe disk rotatably adjustable in the handle to present tool portions of various dimensions for use.
This application as filed is a continuation in so far as shown and described in application filed by me on November 26, 1921, Serial No. 517,869 and embodies certain improvements thereover.
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and' arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawin and claimed. e

Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, there is illustrated'a tool handle for adjustably supporting a tool or implement at either end thereof, the handle embodying a shank portion 1 transversely slotted as at 2 adjacent one end thereof with the opposite ends of the inner walls 3 of the slot cut away to provide shoulders 42. The opposite face of the .walls 3, as shown inv Fig.6 are conoaved as 'at- 5 to provide a clearance for the screw threaded shank 6 of the screw driver blade, the blade I freely extending into the tool handle 1 and engaged by the nut 7 positioned in the transverse slots 8 formed in theop-posite sides of the tool shank shown more clearly in Fig.2. In order to prevent rotation of the screw driver blade 6, a cross pin extends through the upper end thereof and carries at each end a block 10 engaging the shoulders 4 of the groove walls 3, this construction being shown in Fig. 6. Rotation of the nut 7 will axially shift the screw driver blade 6 with respect to the tool handle 1, while rotation oftheblade will be prevented by the pin and block mounting 9 and 10 as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 6.
The opposite end of the'handle shank-1 is constructed for the reception of a rotatably adjustable disk wrench or disk threading die, the shank 1 embodying an integral rigid slde wall 11.while the opposite side wall is cut away as at 11 and carries a lug -12 for pivotally receiving a lever 13. As
shown in Fig. 3 the lever 13 has aside opening slot 14 for purposes presently to appear."

A toothed wheel 18 having a rectangular bore isreceivedvon the squared portion 16 of the shaft and further keyed thereto as at 19, the squared portion of the'shaf't further receiving a disk wrench head 20 provided with a pluralit disk wrench 20' having a rectangular bore and further being keyed to the squared portion 16 of the shaft by the key 19.
To provide a further lock for the wrench disk 20 and to hold the same in a rigid position when in operation, a tensioned latch device is associated with the toothed wheel 18, the latch device including the formation of a socket "22 in the handle'shank 1 for the reception of a plunger 23 slotted as at 24: and having a guide pin 25. extending through the slot as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, said plunger being tensioned by the spring 26 normally to move the plunger in a direction toward the wrench disk 20. Anadjustable do 27 is interposed between the tensioned p unger 23 and the toothed wheel 18, the dog 27 having a central cut away portion 28 with a plurality of seats 29 in'the bottom wall of the cut away portion for the selective reception of the cross pin 30 carried by the side wall 11 of the handle and extending into the cut away portion 28 of the dog. The outer end of the dog 27 is provided with teeth 31. for engaging the teeth of. the wheel 18.
When it is desired to dispose the desired' socket portion 21 of the disk wrench 20 at the outer end of the tool handle 1, the locking dog 27 is positioned as shown in Fig. 1 with the pin 28 resting in the middle seat 29 of the dog 27. The lever 13 is then moved upon its hinge connection with the lug 12 to disengage the lever from the hexagonal end 17 of the stub shaft to permitrotation of the stub shaft and the gear When the wrench disk has been properly positioned, thelever 13 is returned to engagement with the stub shaft head 17 to lock the wrench diskagainst rotation, and as a further brace to prevent movement of the wrench disk with relation to the tool handle, the dog 27 is manually shifted inwardly against the spring plunger 23 to dispose the pin 30 in either of the side seats 29 in the bottom wall of the dog opening 28, the dog then Y 'being tilted in either direction to cause either of the toothed ends 31 to engage the toothed wheel 18; By. the provision of the dog27, the wrench disk is rigidly disposed of 1 various sized wrench washes in the outer end of the tool handle and is capable of receiving unusual strains in the use of the tool.

While there are herein shown and described the preferred embodiments of the present: invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may-be made therein' without departing from the spirit and scope thereof as. claimed.
What is claimed as new is 1. A tool handle comprising a body portion, aside arm extending from one end thereof, a locking arm pivoted to said end adjacent the other side, a stub shaft having a rotatable bearing end journaled in the fixed arm, a polygonal head carried by the other end of the stub shaft, the intermediate portionof the stub shaft being rectangular in cross section, a toothed wheel and disk tool received on the rectangular portion of the stub shaft, and tensioned means carried by the handle engagingthe toothed wheel to hold the shaft rigidly mounted.
