ROLL FABRIC HOLDER.
Application filed August 26, 1921.
T 0 (all to hom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JoHN GIRARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thomaston, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Roll Fabric Holder; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will -enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to storage and display devices being particularly designed for storing fabric in convenient and compact form for ready handling when it is required to dispense the same.
Other objects and advantages Will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention isunderstood.
While the drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming a part of the specification,
Figure 1 is an elevation partly in section of the holder illustrative of the invention.
Figure 2 is an end view thereof parts being broken away.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.
The device embodies a suitable supporting frame which in the present instance is shown as consisting of a base 1 and upright 2. A shaft 3 is journaled in the upright 2 parallel with the base 1 and is provided with acrank handle 1. Disks 5 are secured to opposite end portions of the shaft 3 so as to rotate therewith. A plurality of cylinders 6 are secured between the outer edge portion of the disks 5 and are formed in their outer sides with longitudinal slots 7 for the egress of the fabric housed by the cylinders in the form of rolls. The cylin- Scrial No. 495,461.
One set of the pins 11 project, as indicated at 11, to receive a crank 16 whereby the fabric may be wound upon the cores 12. A tape measure 17 is located upon one of the uprights 2 for convenience of measuring the fabric as drawn from the roll.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is A roll holder and display cabinet comprising a support, spaced disks rotatably mounted by said support, said disks having spaced openings around their outer edges, cylinders supported at their ends by said disks and extending between the same, the ends of said cylinders received in the openings in the disks, said cylinders having longitudinal slots in their outer sides, blocks in the ends of said cylinders, means carried by said blocks for supporting a fabric supporting coil within each of said cylinders, said blocks being of different length to vary the effective length of the cores and extending inward from the outer ends of the cylinders to reinforce the same at their point of connection with the disks, a metalslotsqin the casing being folded around the lie casing surrounding said disks and supported thereby, 'said casing having l0ngi tudinally extending slots registering With the slots in the cylinders, the edges of the blocks being adapted to be rotated to Wind fabrics onto the cores.
