Be it known that l, Anti-inn JON MiLLnnliiAsUnY, a. citizen ot the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Guyalioga andL State of 0hio, have invented a new and useful Fence, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to fence constructions, the primary object of the invention being to provide a fence including an up er flexible section to render the tence impassable, by scaling the same.
Another object oi the invention is to provide a removable Aflexible section which may be readily and easily applied to the usual fence constructions now in use.
`With the 'foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceed-s, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details ot construction hereinafter described and claimed, it 'being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit ot the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 'i is a side elevational view of a fence constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmental sectional view through the attachment disclosing the saine as securedL to a post.
F igure 8 is a tragmental sectional view disclosing` the attaching means.
Figure l is a Jfront elevational View of a post suppiied with the flexible section.
Figure is a sectional view taken on line 6-6 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a traglnental elevational view disclosinga modiiied form of the invention.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 designates a fence post to which the upper section of' the tence, and which l'orms the essence of the invent-ion, is secured.
The upper section is made up of a plurality ot members each of which includes a body portion-6, to which are secured secur- Seral No. 584,588.
ing strips 7 that extend downwardly therefrom, the strips being formed with suitable openings to accommodate the screws 8. FX- tending upwardly from each body portion is a wire supporting post 9 which is formed of flexible metal, the same tapering towards its upper end so that the wire mesh material usually employed in fence construction may be secured thereto.
Fingers l0 are formed on each post 9, which ingers may be hooked into the-mesh of the fence construction to secure the same thereto. A
As shown by Figure 6 of the drawings, a iiexible post is indicated at 11, which post is provided with suitable openings to accommodate the securing bolts 12 that extend through openings in the upper portion of the post proper, where the same will secure the post ll to the post 13.
From the foregoing it will be seen that should a person attempt to scale a tence con structed in accordance with the invention, the weight or" the body of the person will cause the posts 9 to bend to posit-ions as illustrated in dotted lines in Figure 1 of the drawings, rendering it impossible for a person to throw his weight over the upper section of the fence.
What is claimed is v A. fence post construction including a lower stationary section, a. circular body portion adapted to be fitted over the upper end ot the lower section. securing strips having connection with the body portion and adapted to engage portions of the lower section, said securing stripsv extending longitudinally of the lower' section and secured thereto, and a wire supporting section formed of flexible material secured to the body portion at theflower end of the wire supporting section.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR- J ON MILLER-MASURY.
Witnesses:
