My invention relates to a garment articularly designed for childrenjs wear, t e principal objects of my invention being to provide a relatively simple and practical one-- piece arment of the combined dress, romper and bloomer type, to rovide a garment of the character described that may be readily placed on the body of the wearer or removed therefrom, to provide a garment that Will present a neat and finished appearance, and at the same time, ermitting freedom of movement of the b y, arms and legs of the wearer, to provide a garment which may be opened into a flat piece, thereby faclhtatmg laundering and ironing, and further to revide a arment that Is entirely devoi of fiiereb requiring no sewing other than the finishing of the edges of the garment and the formation of buttonholes and a air of belt strap openings.

Vith the foregoing and other ob ects 1n view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts that will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in WlllCh:

The one-piece garment contemplated by my invention, is formed from a single piece of suitable fabric that is cut to the general shape as illustr'ated in Fig. 3., and the section of material thus shaped, includes a front body portion 10, a rear body portion 11, and between which portions is formed a neck opening 12 of suflicient size to admit the head of the wearer.

The ortions 13 of the section of material to the sides of the neck opening, and between the inner ends of the front and back sections 10 and 11, are adapted, when the garment isfolded for use, to rest directly upon the shoulders of the wearer.

Formed on the sides of the front and .back sections 10 and 11, and adjacent to the shoulder portions 13, are lateral extensions 14 which combine to form short sleeves, and

when these portions are folded together to form sleeves, the lower edges thereof are detachably' connected to each other by buttons 15 that engage in buttonholes 16.

Formed on the side of the front section 10, and directly below the sleeve formin extensions 14, are laterally projectin curved sections 17 that form belt strapmem rs, the outer end of one of which is provided with button-hole 18, that is adapted to receive a button 19 carried by the end of the other member when the garment is folded for use, and the outer end portions of said belt strap members 17, are adapted to pass throng slits 20 that are formed in the intermediate portion of the back section 11.

When the garment is folded for use, the end portions ofthe belt stra sections 17, pass through the slits 20, and ie against the outer face of the back section 11, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and the ends of said belt strap sections are adapted to be connected by the engagement of the button '19 in the buttonhole 1 8. I

Formed on the sides of the back section 11, immediately below the sleeve forming portions 14, are relatively short'laterally projecting triangular tabs 21, having formed in their outer ends, buttonholes 22, and these tabs are adapted to overlie the side portion of front section 10 immediately below the sleeve members 14 when the garment is folded for use (see Fig. 2).

Formed on the lower portions of front section 10 are outwardl' projecting portions 23 that are substantial y triangular in shape with curved lower edges and similar projec- These substantially triangular projecting portions 23 and 24 are adapted to co-operate to form the bloomer legf iortions of the gen ment when thesame is ded for use.

Formed in the outer end portions of section 23 are buttonholes 25, and secured by the outer end portions'ofthe section 24, are buttons 26.

Depending from the lower end of the back body section 11, is a tab 27 in which is formed a plurality of buttonholes 28, and which are adapted to receive buttons 29 that are secured to the outer face and lower portion of front section 10.

By virtue of the construction and arrangement just described, openings, such as 30, are produced between the lower edges of the front and back sections 10 and 11 to the sides of the tab 27 when the garment is folded for use, and which openings are adapted to receive the legs of the wearer.

Formed in front section 10 adjacent to the inner ends of the belt stra sections 17, are buttonholes 31, that area apted to receive buttons 32, and which latter are secured to the outer face of back section 11 at points between the slits 20, and the triangular sections 21.

When my improved garment is in open or flat condition, the various parts thereof occu the posltions as illustrated in Fig. 3. 'eghen folded for use, the front section 10 is folded into position in front of the back section '11, and to form the sleeves, the buttons 15 are engaged in buttonholes 16.

Belt strap sections 17 are folded inwardly against the inner face of back-section 11, and said belt strap sections are extended through slits 20 and their ends connected on the outer face of back section 11 by the engagement of button 19 through buttonhole 18.

The lateral extensions 24 are now folded inwardly against the inner face of the front section 10, and buttons 26 are inserted through buttonholes 31. Lateral extensions 21 are now folded over on to the front face of front section 10, and the buttons 26 are en aged through buttonholes 22.

The garment thus folded is now slipped over the head and body of the wearer with the arms projecting through sleeves 14 and the head and neck projecting through open-' epending tab 27 is now folded upwardly against the lower portion of the outer face of front section 10, and secured in such position by the engagement of buttons 29 through the buttonholes 28, and thus the garment is secured in position upon the wearer.

In order to remove the garment from the wearer it is only necessary to release buttons 29, and this will permit the garment to be bodily lifted with all the parts of the garment in proper assembled relation, with the exception of the detachable tab 27.

The garment of my improved construction is relatively simple, may be easily and cheaply produced, is easily laundered, and in the place of buttons and buttonholes, other suitable fastening devices may be utilized, for instance, snap fasteners or hooks and eyes.

The garment may be easily and quickly applied to or removed from t e body of the wearer, and if desired, the belt strap sections may extend laterally and forwardly from the back section 11, and with their ends detachably connected on the front face of the front section 10.

The lateral extensions and the belt strap members may be made in different shapes, and the edges thereof, as well as the edges of the entire garment may be finished in any desired manner.

Various changes in the size, form and construction of the parts of my improved garment may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended claims.

I claim as my invention:

1. A garment formed from a single piece of material, and comprising a front section, a back section, there being a centrally arranged opening between said front and back sections, belt strap members projecting outwardly from the sides of one of said sections, there being slits formed in the other sections to receive said belt strap members, means for detachably connecting the ends of said belt strap members, and means for detachably connecting the central portions of the lower ends of said front and back sections.

2. The herein described one-piece garment comprising a front section, a back section there being a neck opening formed between said front and back sections, lateral extensions on the inner ends of the side portions of said front and back sections, which extensions when folded constitute sleeve members, lateral extensions on the lower portions of said front and back sections, which lateral extensions are adapted to be folded over each other, means for detachably securing the folded over portions, and means for detachably connecting the central portions of the. lower ends of said front and back sections.

3. The herein described garment formed from a single piece of material and comprising front and back sections, between which is formed a neck opening, sleeve forming members projecting laterally from the sides of the front and back sections, belt strap members projecting laterally from the sides of one section and adapted to be secured to each other, and to the other section, over lapping extensions on the sides of the front and back sections below the belt strap members, and means for securing said overlapping extensions to the front and back sections.

4. The herein described garment formed from a single piece of material and comprising front and back sections, between which is formed a neck opening, sleeve forming members rojecting laterally from the sides of the ront and back sections, belt strap members projecting laterally from the sides of one section and adapted to be secured to each other, and to the other section, overlapping extensions on the sides of the front and back sections below the belt strap members, means for securing said overlapping extensions to the front and back sections, and means for securing; the intermediate portions of the ends of the front and back sections to each other.
