ARTHUR H. DOLGE AND CHARLES F. HENDRICKS, F 1TIES'IPGRT, CONNECTCUT.
FLEXIBLE SPIRAL TUBE.
Application led April 17, 1920. Serial No. 374,745.
To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that we, ARTHUR H. DoLGn and CHARLES F. HENDRICKS, citizens of the United States, residing at Westport, in the county ofFairiield and State of Connecti cut, have invented new and useful Improvements in Flexible Spiral Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
Our present invention pertains to tubes that are employed by embaliners and it contemplates the provision of a tube for use in relieving gases from the stomach of the dead and at the same time removing matter that has fermented in the stomach and also for the supplying of preserving fluids to the stomach and intestines.
The invention in all of its details will be fully understood from the following description and claim when the same are read in connection with the drawings accompanying and forming part of this application in which Figure l is a side elevation of our novel tube.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of a portion thereof.
Figure 3 is a View partly in side elevation and partly in section of the tube.
Figure et is a detail View of one end of the tube and taken in section.
Similar numerals designate corresponding parts in all the views of the drawings.
Uur novel device comprises a tube l of flexible material that is secured at one end to a connecting tip 7 that in turn is interiorly ybored as indicated by 8 and because of the construction of this tip 7 the tube may be secured to a hose or other connection in the ordinary well known manner. At its opposite end from the tip 7 the tube is set0 cured integrally to the tine bendable metal 2. 0n the other end of the tube 2 is a cap provided with interior bore 6. This cap is indicated by 3 and has the elongated opening 5 at the ends of which are depressions 45 or recesses 4.
Because of the bendable character of the fine tubing 2 it will be manifest that the flexible tube l will be assisted in following the passage of the cap 3 down through the 50 esophagus into the stomach. Manifestly the flexible spiral portion 2 is not intended as a drainage but merely as a means of enabling the hose l to pass the curvature of the throat into the esophagus. 55
Having described our invention, what we claiin and desire to secure by Letters Patent Tn a device for the purpose set forth, the combination of a flexible tube, a tip secured 00 to one end, a flexible metal spiral tube of fine wire connected integrally to one end of the tube, a cap secured on the upper end of the fine tube, openings formed in the side walls of the cap and depressions arranged adjacent the openings. A Tn testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR H. DOLGE. CHARLES F. HENDRICKS. lVitnesses WALTER l?. CoLLiNGs, Bonnin M. HOMER.
