IMPROVEMENT IN DASH-BOARDS FIOR VEHICLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,878, dated April 21, 1874; application filed March 1, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jns. M. MUNSON of Greenficld,in the county of Franklin and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dash-Rails; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itpertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in dash-rails for carriages; and it consists in providing the upper end of the central post with a screw-thread, so that it may be screwed into the collar on the rail, and be adjusted up and down, so as to perfectly fit the dash.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention.
(t represents an ordinary dash-rail, such as is in general use. Slipped over this rail is a collar, 0, having formed in its under side a screw-socket, into which the upper end of the central post (1 screws.
By means of this screw-socket and the screwthread on the post, the post can be adjusted up and down, so as to fit the dash perfectly, while they, at the same time, form a strong, cheap, and ornamental rail.
When the rail is not well fitted in attaching it to the dash-board, the board will either be split or bent out of shape.
I am aware that both the rail, collar, and post are old in themselves, and I do not claim such. My invention consists in making the post adjustable up and down.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The combination of the rail a, collar 0, and post d, the collar 0 and post 61 being provided with screw-threads, so that the post can be adjusted, substantially as shown and described.
