. EDD C. OLIVER, 0F ADRIAN, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOB TO PARKER RUST PROOF COM- IPANY, or DETROIT, MICHIGAN,
A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
ELEO'IBOPLATING BACK.
Application filed November 6, 1924. Serial No. 748,253. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDD C. OLIVER, acltizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Adrian, county of Lenawee' and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electro-" plating Racks, of which the following is a. specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
Considerable difliculty in the construction of racks for the above purpose has heretofore been encountered for the reason that the hangers provided on the racks for suspending the work to be electro-plated become coated and the coating must from time to time be removed. The removal of this coating, necessitates the rack being temporarily placed out of use and it is the primary object of my invention to provide a rack wherein the hangers are removable so that new hangers may 'be substituted for used ones, and the rack kept in continuous service.
It is a still further object to provide arack, the vertical portion of which is of" square formation so that the hanger supports may be accurately )fi-Ild rigidly secured thereto. It is a still further object upper portion of the rack constituting the hook by which it is suspended, so that one of'the sharp edges of the square will constitute the contacting surface thereon, ,with the result that a better electrical contact may be made by reason of the sharp edge cutting or penetrating any coating which may have aceuminulated upon the surface'with which it contacts. With the above, and other objects, my-invention consists in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device, as described. inthe square piece of conducting material having a vertical portion 5 and a hook portion 6,
the stock being twisted as at 7, so that the sharp edge of one of the corners thereof tral to twist the.
will constitute the bearing surface in the hook as at 8. p
Secured on thevertical portion 7 are a plurality of cross pieces 9, which may be soldered to the flat surface between the edges of the square.
The cross. pieces 9 are provided with a plurality of punched out ears 10, one adjacent'each end thereof and one at approximately the center thereof, the two outer ears extending in opposite directions to the cenear.
A plurality of hangers 11, which ma be pieces of wire having their outer ends ent upwardly, as at 12, are secured, one to each of the crosspiece's 9, bymeans of disposing them between the cars 10 in such a manner that the outer earsprevent movement thereof in one vertical direction and the central ear prevents movement thereof in the other vertical direction; Thus the hangers are held'securely in lace but maybe easily and quickly remov' and other like ones sub stituted when it is desirable to doso.
It is obviousthat'various changes may be made in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device without departing from the" spirit of my invention, and it is my intention to cover b my claims such changes as may be, reasonably lncluded within the scope thereof.
What I claim is:
1. A rack for use in electro-plating consisting of a vertically disposed member having laterally extendlng crossieces thereon, and hangers removably secure to said crosspieces. e
2. A rack for use in electro-plating consisting of a'vertically disposed member having laterally extending cross-pieces thereon. said cross pieces having punched out ears thereon, some of which extend in one direction 'aiid others in another direction, a
hanger removably secured by said ears to said cross-pieces. 3. A rack for use in electro-plating, consisting of a vertically disposed member having laterally extending cross (piece thereon and hangers removably secure thereto, said vertical member being provided with flat surfaces at the securi g points of said crosspieces. sisting of a vertically disposed member havmember formed of square stock, said mem- 10 ing laterally extending cross piece thereon her being bent at one end to form a hook, v and hangers .removably secured thereto, said the material in the hook portion being'so vertical member being formed of square positioned that one of the edges thereof will -stock and said cross pleces bein secured to form the contactin surface when the rack the flat portion betweenthe ges of the is suspended from t e hook, and hangers on 15 square. the unbent portion of the member.
'5. A rack for. use in eleotro-plating con- Y sisting of a vertically disposed conducting EDD C. OLIVER.
