To all -wiom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED J. REEDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Battle Creek, county of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in stoves.
The main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved stove in which the parts may be enameled and are so arranged and assembled that the enamel is not likely to be injured in shippingiand handling the stove.
Second, to provide in a stove an improved oven structure formed mainly `of sheet metal, and at the same time being substantial and strong and having a substantial appearance.
Third, to provide an improved stove in which the parts are economical to produce, and easily and quickly assembled.
Objects pertaining to details and economies of my improved structure will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described inthe following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure embodying thefeatures of my invention is clearly illustrated in the ac companying drawing forming a part of this application, in which:

The side walls 5 of the oven are provided with inturned flanges 6 at their upper edges and inturned flanges 7 at their front edges,
the flanges 7 being angled, that is, they have inwardly projecting arms 8. The top 9 has 'downwardly projecting side flanges l() which overlap the upper ends of the side walls 5, these side walls being inwardly ofset at 11 to receive the flanges 10, see'Fig. VII.
The top has a. downwardly projecting flange 12 at its front edge, this flange 12 being an angled ilange having an inwardly projecting arm 13. The flange 12 overlaps the upper ends of the flanges 7 of the side walls, the inwardly projecting arms of the flanges 7 and 12 being cut away to permit their overlapping engagement. The upper ends of the flanges 'i' are inwardly offset at 13 providing seats for the ends of the flanges 12.
Gaskets 15 of asbestos or other heat resist-ing material are arranged between the overlapping parts as shown in Fig. VI, the bolts 16 securing the overlap-ping flanges with the gaskets between them.
The side walls and top are provided with inturned flanges 17 at their rear ends, the rear wall 18 being arranged within these flanges and secured thereto by the bolts 19, the nuts 20 on the bolts clamping these parts together.
The front cross piece 21 is, in the structure illustrated, of channel cross section and has inwardly offset ends 22 arranged within the flanges 7, the inturncd arms 8 of these anges being cut away to receive the ends 22. Gaskets 23 are arranged' between-these ends 22 and the flanges, clamping bolts 24 securing the parts together with the gaskets between them.

The top 9 is notched at 28 to receive the portion 29 of the side walls between the oftsets 11 and 13 thereof so that the flanges are flush with the outer sides of the side walls and their front flanges. The corner irons 43 are shaped to fit over the upper corners of the oven and are secured by bolts 30 arranged through holes 31 in the top and side walls a part at least of these holes being of such diameter that a limited movement of the parts is permitted, thus preventing twisting stresses which might crack the enamel.
The oven door 32 is supported by the hinge members 33 while the broiler door 34 is supported by the hinge members 35 secured at the lower ends of the flanges of the oven side walls.
The back 3 has an outwardly offsetI portion 36 at one end engaged with the bolts 19 at the outside of the nuts 20, nuts 37 securing this back in place. The shelf 4 is provided with a back 38. To secure this back the bolts 39 are clamped to the back 4 by means' of the nuts 40, concavo convex washers 41 being arranged on the bolts to engage the back and clamp it thereon by the nuts 42. This provides an effective means for supporting the shelf back 38 and permits its being attached without danger of breaking the enamel.
By thus forming and' arranging the parts the cost of manufacture is very substantially reduced, the parts may be enameled and assembled without danger of injuring the enamel and also may be shipped or transported with a minimum of damage to the enameled parts. j
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: v A
1. An oven comprising side walls having inwardly projecting flanges vat their front edges, a top having downwardly projecting flanges at its side and front edges disposed with its side flanges overlapping the upper ends of the side walls and with its front flange overlapping the upper ends of said side wall front flanges, the upper ends of said walls and their front flanges being inwardly offset to provide seats for the overlapping top flanges, gaskets arranged between the overlapping parts of said flanges, bolts clamping said flanges with the gaskets between the same, and corner irons bolted to said top and side walls and to their said front flanges, the holes for at least one of the bolts of eaclreorner iron being of a size permitting limited movement of the parts.

An oven comprising side walls having inwardly projecting flanges at their front edges, and a top having downwardly projecting flanges at its side and front edges disposed with its side flanges overlapping the upper ends of said vside wall front flanges, the upper ends of said front flanges being inwardly offset yto provide seats for the overlapping top flange.

An oven comprising side walls having inwardly projecting flanges at their front edges, a top having downwardly projecting flanges at its side and front edges dislposed with its side flanges overlapping the upper ends of the side walls and with its front flange overlapping the upper .ends of said front flanges thereof,4 the upper ends of said front flanges being inwardly offsetv ing a back wall provided with a shelf at the top thereof, a-shelf back wall, bolts disposed through said stove back wall and clamped thereto by nuts, said shelf back wall having openings 'therein ofsuch siffle as to 'embrace said nuts, concavo convex disks disposed on said bolts to face inwardly with their edges engaging said shelf back wall, and clamping nuts for said disks.
16. In a stove, the combination of coacting overlapping parts, a bolt arranged through one .of said parts and clamped thereto by means of a nut on said bolt, the other part having an opening of such size as to embrace said nut, a concavo convex disk arranged on said bolt to face inwardly with its edges engaging the part having said opening therein, and a clamping nut for said disk.
