I. W. CUN NINGHAM BOUQUET Filed July 14. 1924 IN VE/V r02 fig Camp/ 275a TOE/V5 Y Patented June 16, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IRA W. CUNNINGHAM, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR T0 CUNNINGHAM & CADE, A GOPAR'INERSHIP COMPOSED OF MYSELF AND BYRON CADE, $3., DOING BUSINESS AT s'r. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
, BOUQUET.
Application filed July 14, 1924. Serial No. 725,971.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRA W. CUNNINGHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Bouquets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof. i
This invention relates to a certain new and useful improvement in bouquets or flower-clusters and has for its chief object the provision of a bouquet that may in the nature of or as a so-called corsage be easily and conveniently fastened and neatly, attractively, and pleasantly carried and displayed upon the wrist" lVith the above and other objects in view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, arrangement, construction, and
combination of parts hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing,
Figure l is a plan view, of a bouquet or corsage of my invention in carried and display position upon a wrist; and
Figure 2 is an enlarged elevational View of the bouquet or Corsage.
Referring nowmore in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention, the corsage or bouquet includes a suitable bunch of either natural or artificial flowers A secured together at their stems in cluster formation by tinfoil, chiffon, or other suitable material B, and projecting at their buds or blossoms from an encircling conical decorative dolly or back C of paper, silk, or other suitable material and of any desired or suitable color.
D designates a band which is adapted to encircle the wrist and which preferably comprises a strip 1 of suitableelasticinaterial concealed within a loosely shirred casing 2 of ribbon, silk, or other suitable material; and fixed upon the free ends of the band for co-operation in securing the band upon the wrist are complementing fastening members, such for instance, as the snap-couplets 3-3. p I
At a point preferably intermediate its ends, so that its ends may be freely manipu- 'bon E is in one piece to function both as a connection between the band D and the flower-cluster A and as a finish decoration for the complete bouquet or corsage.
The bouquet being so constructed, it will be evident that through and by means of the band D, the bouquet or Corsage may be conveniently attached upon the wrist and when so attached, as seen in Figure 1, is
not only conveniently carried but also most attractively, neatly, and pleasantly displayed. I may add that the casing 2 of the band D, as well as the ribbon E, may also be of any suitable color to match or correspond, if desired, with the gown or dress of the wearer.
I am aware that changes in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the bouquet may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.
Having thus described my invention,
what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A corsage adapted for display upon the wrist and including a cluster of flowers secured together at their stems, in combination with a wrist-encircling band, a ribbon having engagement with the flower-cluster and with the band for. both fastening the band intermediate its ends to the flowercluster and decorating the flower-cluster, and means carried by and at the ends of the band for fastening the same about the wrist.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
IRA w. CUNNINGHAM.
