Description

- H. 'DENNERT SHOE Nov. s, 1925- 1,5 0,023
Filed Nov. 22, 1924 ATIUR/Vfk Patented Nov. 3,
HENRY DENNERT, OF NEWPORT, KENTUCKY.
SHOE.
Application filed November 22, 1924. Serial No. 751,453.
1 '0 all M7207 it may camera: Be it known that I, HENRY DnNNnnr. a citizen oi the United States, and resident of Newport, in the county of Campbell, State of Kentucky have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompauying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to shoes and has pa rticular reference to the provision of straps or braces for causing the shoe to fit more snugly about the arch'and instep of the foot, and also to brace and strengthen said parts. 7
The principal object of this invention is to provide simple and etlicient ineans built into the shoe at the time of its construction, whereby the same is caused to fit more tightly to the foot and to strengthen and support the arch and instep thereof.
Further objects of the invention will appear from the following detailed description thereof.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective of a shoe constructed in accordance with this invention, the novel features being; shown in broken lines.
Figure 2 is a vertical section at the shank of the shoe.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section near the top of the shoe.
The novel features of the present inven tion consist in building into the shoe straps 1 and The strap 1 is sewed into the shoe construction between the insole and outer sole and extends upwardly between the lining and upper of the shoe. The lining is slit,v as shown at 3--S, so that the ends of the strap 1. may extend therethrough; said ends are provided with eyes 4-.--4t through which the shoe lace 5 may be threaded hei'ore passing through the eyes of the shoe near the upper portion thereof. The eyes l: are so placed as to fall a little bit short ot the eyes oi the shoe so that when the lace is tightened the strap 1 will be drawn tirn'ily about the arch of the foot.
The strap 2 is built around the counter of the shoe between the upper leather and the drawn tight causes the strap 2 to bind firmly around the instep from the heel thus caus ing the upper portion. of. the shoe to fit snug;- ly about the foot and instep of the wearer instead of bulging away therefroui and be-- coming; unsightly as well as uncomfortable, as is the case in 1 reseut constructions.
From the foregoing description the nature and value of the present invention will be fully apparent to those skilled in the art to which the same appertains.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: I
1. In a shoe, a strap interposed between the upper and lining; of said. shoe and. adapted. to extend upwardly around the arch from the shanln the end, of said strap em tending through openings in said lining and being provided with holes through which the shoe lace may be threaded.
2. In a shoe, a strap interposed between the upper and lining; of said shoe and adapted to extend upwardly around the arch from the shank, the end of said strap extending through openings in said lining and being provided with holes through which the shoe laces may be threaded said holes being disposed so as to fall short of the correspondingshoe eyes before the lace tightened.
HENRY DENNERT.
