To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, OSIAS M. GOTTESMAN and IRVIN ROSENFELD, citizens of the United" States, residing at Bronx, New York city, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

Our invention relates to improvements in holding devices or stands for tubesor bottles such as testing tubes, antiseptic chambers such as may be used for clinical thermometers, and other forms of receptacles such as may be used for tooth brushes and the like, and also has reference to means in combination with a thermometer for holding the same so that a reading can be instantly taken from the normal position in which it is held.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, I have illustrated in Fig. 1, a suitable rack or stand for containers, bottles or tubes such as may be used for antiseptic fluid for hold- 5 ing clinical thermometers. Fig. 2 illustrates a modified form of holder particularly adapted for household use and Fig. 3 indicates a clinical thermometer having a holder or finger piece at one end so positioned as to expose a proper reading when held in the usual manner.

The stand illustrated in Fig. 1 is stamped or punched preferably from non-corrosive sheet metal, bent back upon itself as indicated at 4 and providing a socket 5 for the bail or handle 6, the central portions being bulged outwardly as indicated at 7 and cut away as indicated at 8 to provide passages for the tubes or bottles 9, each of said tubes or bottles preferably having a frosted section 10 for writing the-name, number or .etter indicating the particular patient whose clinical thermometer is contained therein, and saidthermometers may have a flat cap or head portion such as 11 closing the neck of the container as shown in Fig. 1, or may be provided with a finger portion such as 12 shown to advantage in Fig. 3, where a closure head such as shown at 11 is employed. The top is preferably frosted or rough surfaced and whitened so as to facilitate marking thereon to indicate by a letter or number the particular patientupon whom the thermometer is used. This insures against using the thermometer of one patient upon another, and prevents the possibility of contagion, etc. I

In the modification shown in Fig. 2, a single sheet metal stamping such as 12 may be formed as shown, and may be provided with a hole such as 13 for hanging the same upon the wall or in anyother suitable position. 14 indicates a suitable tube within which a toothbrush such as 15 may be retained, and of course it will be readily understood that hangers or brackets such as 12 may be formed to receive one or any number of such tubes, the base portion 16 being projected forwardly, serving as a support for the base of the tube.

The head 12 of the thermometer 17, shown in Fig. 3, is preferably corrugated as indicated at 18 to insure a proper grip between the'thumb and forefinger, and is so positioned upon the stem of the thermometer that when so held, the lens and scale are directly in a line with the eye, so that an immediate reading can be had without turning or twisting the thermometer.

Of course it will be understood that various modifications may be made in the construction and arrangement of arts without departing from the spirit 0 the invention as claimed.

We claim: I

1. A carrying rack of the class described comprising a sheet of metal bent at the center providing support for a handle, then bent outwardly and oppositely and provided with openings, then straight outwardly and oppositely at the base.

2.
