G. DU PRIEST COMB Filed Feb. 28, 1925 Patented Mar. 9, 1926.
UNITED STATES GUY DU PRIEST, OF AUSTIN, TEXAS.
COMB.
Application filed February 28, 1925.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GUY DU PRIEST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Austin, in the county of Travis and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in combs and contemplates the provision of means for holding the separable teeth there fore in adjusted position and which also allows the teeth of the comb to be separated or removed in order that the same may be cleansed or replaced by new teeth when the original have been broken or cracked.
Another object of the invention is to provide tongue. and grooved portions upon the opposite sides of the teeth in order that the same may interlock in order that the teeth will be held in their adjusted position and against accidental displacement thereon and also provide a very neat appearance to the comb per se.
With the above and other objects in view,
the invention further includes the followbled comb.
Figure 2 is a. sectional view of the end tooth showing the novel connection of the holding means therewith.
Figure 3 is a similar View of the rear tooth with the handle portion attached therewith and showing the holding means extending therethrough.
Figure 1 is a detail perspective of the upper portion of a tooth and showing the tongue and grooved portions upon the up per portions thereof; I
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a comb which includes a plurality of removable teeth 11 including relatively large upper portions 12 having tongues 13 and grooved portions 14: upon the opposite sides thereof and which are adapted to interlock or lit with each other in direct alignment so that in general appearance the same will resemble the ordinary type of comb,
In order to provide means for holding the Serial No. 12,385.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what isclaimed is:
A comb of the character described comprising a plurality of removable and separable teeth, each of the teeth including a relatively large flat upper portion which includes thereon tongue and grooved portions upon the opposite sides thereof, a casing member fitted over the top, front and side of the forward tooth, a bar member extending transversely through the upper portions of the teeth and having its corresponding end portion connected with the casing member, an adjusting nut included upon the opposite end of the bar and resting against the corresponding side of the rear tooth, and a handle member received on the said end and bearing against the cor responding side of the adjusting nut.
In testimony whereof I afiix m signature.
GUY DU RIEST,
