My invention relates to combination match boxes and the principal objects of the invention are to provide a match box that serves all the commercial purposes of an ordinary match box, and which by a simple manipulation may be converted into a match cabinet and hung on the wall or placed on a shelf whereby the matches are readily accessible at all times. Other objects are to provide a match box of simple construction whereby the matches continually gravitate to a position where they are conveniently exposed and in readiness for usage without having to open the box at each time.

WVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the novel construction, adaptation, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed. These objects are accomplished by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 is a view in front perspective of a match box embodying the features of the invention;

Fig. 3 is a view in vertical section taken on a broken line 3, 3 of Fig. 2 and showing the operative position in dotted lines;

Fig. 1 is a view in horizontal section taken on a broken line 4, 4 of Fig. 3; and

Fig. 5 is a view in horizontal section taken on a broken line 5, 5 of Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawings throughout which like reference numerals designate like parts, the numeral 5 indicates the outer casing which is provided with a hole 6 at its upper back portion whereby the box may be suspended on a nail or the like. The numeral 7 designates an aperture through the back that is extended downwardly in the form of a slot 8.

The inner receptacle 9 that ordinarily r contains the matches has a small guide 10 pasted or otherwise secured to its bottom or back portion in such position that it will move up and down in the slot 8 when the box is opened or closed as will be readily understood. In Fig. 2 the relative arrangement of the slot 8 and guide 10 is shown when the box is in the closed position. When the receptacle 9 is at the limit of its position the lower end of said guide will abut against the bottom of said slot. Portions of the sides of the receptacle 9 that are exposed in the open position are cut and turned inwardly as at 12 to form stops 13 for reasons presently set forth.

A drawer 14 functions within the lower end of the box. Said drawer has no back and the rear end portions of its sides are turned outwardly to form stops 15 which catch against the stops 1?) and limit its outward movement in the open position. The front portion of said drawer is cut away, as at 16, to form a flap 17 that serves as a handle in opening same.

In the closed position, as shown in Fig. 3, the box presents substantially the same outward appearance as an ordinary match box and will serve all commercial requirements as such. When the matches are consumed in the home the receptacle 9 is pulled downwardly until the stop 10 reaches the limit of its movement when the drawer is pulled outwardly until the limit of its movement is reached.

The box is placed on a shelf or hung on the wall and it will be obvious that the matches will work downwardly filling the drawer 1.4: as clearly shown in Fig. 1. The matches are easily grasped with the fingers at the opening 16 and as they are used up gravity will cause others to take their place until the entire box 1s consumed. It will thus be .seen that I have provided a self feeding match box wherein the matches are always conveniently accessible for use.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the construction and operation of my match box will be readily understood, and while I have described the device with some particularity it will be understood that I intend no limitations except in so far as may be imposed by the appended claim and that such changes may be resorted to as are within its scope and spirit.
