SELINA DINKELBIHLER, OF DENVER, COLORADO.
CLASP.
Application mea November 24, 1925. serial No. 71,0752.
This invention relates to improvements in clasps and has special reference to an improved clasp that can be readily applied to pieces of wearing apparel for the purpose of connecting the same. y
It .is often desirable to temporarily connect two pieces of wearing apparel in such a manner that they may be quickly attached one to the other and as quickly removed or lf3 deached. For example, ladies fur neck pieces, scar-fs and similar` pieces of wearing apparel that are usually thrown loosely over the shoulders are very easily lost because they are entirely unattached and are sometimes snatched or stolen.
It is the object of this invention to produce a clasp that is made in two parts, eacn of which is provided with a pin by means of which it can besecured to a garment and by means of which temporary attachment between the garments'may be made.
My invention is very simple and inexpensive to manufacture and can be most clearly described and will be most readily understood when reference is had to the accompanying drawing in which the preferred embodiment has been illustrated and in w iich:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a clasp constructed in accordance with my invention, the two parts being shownV slightly separated;
Fig. Q'is a view similar to Fig. 1 but shows the parts in side elevation;
Fig. 3 is a view similar to that shown in Fig. 2 but shows the two parts attached,`
and v Fig. l is a section taken on line 4-4,
Fig. 3.
i My invention consists of a clasp made in;
two parts which have lbeen designated Yby letters A7 and B. These parts A and B are substantially identical in shape, size and appearance but differ in one particular which will be hereinafter described; l Each of these parts has a flat body portion l, one end of which is made of restricted width and bent rearwardly to form a hook 2 whose reversely bent end is inwardly concave as indicated by numeral 3. Secured to the other end of the part l is a pin 4; whose end 5 is bent in a reverse rdirection andv soldered or otherwise fastened in place. The free end 6 of the pin Il is sharpened and adapted to pierceV a fabric and to be held in place in the concave portion 3. The flat port' )n l of part A is provided `with clasp portions 7 that are adapted to receive and hold the spherical heads 8 of the plugs 9 Y fore not shown the construct-ion of these f parts in detail as any suitable clasp `will perform the desired function.
-My clasp is employed in the followingy manner. The part A may be secured to one garment, as for example, a coat, and the part B to another garment, as, for example,
afur neck piece or scarf. The plugs '9 are then inserted into the clasp portion 7 and snapped into locking position. It. is now apparent that the fur or scarf cannot be lost or snatched by a thief as it is so vsecured to the coatl that the force required to detach it will he sufficient to call the wearers attention to thefact that the garvment issubjected to a detaching force.
vvMy invention is also admirably adapted for use by drapers for temporarily attaching several pieces one to t-he other. Y I am, of course, awarethat clasps have been made for attaching separate pieces.
' These clasps, however, are of the type indi cated by numerals 7 8V and 9 and must be sewed to the garments whereas mine are provided with pins for readily attaching and detaching them. f
FromA the above it will be apparentthat I have produced a clasp that can be quickly secured to garments for readily attaching and detaching them.
Having now described my inventiomwhat I claim as new 1s:
A fastener for securlng two garments together comprising two straight flat parts of considerable length and substantial Width, each of said parts being Vprovided on one side With a. pin and a cooperating hook for vholding the pin in closed osition, the opposite sides of the straight at members having snap fasteners for detaohably Connecting the said members, there being at least two of said fasteners spaced so that the members are prevented from moving out of aline- 19 ment when connected thereby;
In testimony whereof I affix my signa-
