These objects are realized by the special construction of an elastic rubber stocking or combination pants'leg and stocking which is adapted to be put on the leg over the regular sock and drawers of the wearer.

This special rubber stocking differs from an ordinary stocking in its proportions relative to the leg of the wearer, as it is provided with certain restricted areas associated with certain zones of considerable freedom as regards its fit to the leg, and it diifers from rubber. boots in having a foot fitting portionadapted to go within the wearers shoe;

Figure 3 is a cross-section of the stocking taken just below the knee portion along the line 3-3 of Figure 1 and shows the ventilating channels between the thigh and calf portion of the garment.

Figure 4 is a view of the complete article similar to that shown in Figure 1, but omitting the restricted portionbelow the knee.

Briefl described, the garment is a stocking of t Tin elastic rubber with a foot fitting portion just large enough to pull easily over the foot when already lIl'ItS sock, and with two restricted elastic bands, one under the knee and one at the upper end of the garment, with the portions between made large enough to give the leg entire freedom therein;

In the drawings the wearers leg is dotted at 1, the footfitting portion 2 of the garmen: extends to the line 4 at the ankle, the restricted band below the knee is shown at 5 and the restricted band at the upper end of the garment is indicated at 6.

' From the upper band 6- to the knee the garment is large and entirely free of the-leg as shown at 7, also between the knee and ankle it is similarly free as shown at 8.

A particular feature of the invention is the special ventilation of the leg by means of air channels formed in both restricted bands 5 and 6.

These bands are made to gently gripthe leg at these two positions to hold the garment in place, and the upper band 6 is preferably reinforced with a rounded edge 6', and both bands have ribs 9 formed around the inner surface of the garment so as to producea series of open channels 10 'extending past the restricted band, thus permitting a free circulation of air from within the garment to the outer atmosphere.

In Figure 4 the garment construction is the same as described, but the restricted band below the knee is omitted, and in both modifications I preferably reinforce the toe and heel with thicker rubber as shown respectively at 11 and 12 to guard against holes at these points.

Instead of elastic rubber other waterproof material may be used to make the garment if desired, such, for instance, as oiled cloth, and the ventilating feature may be suitably incorporated therein, but I prefer to use-thin rubber as it forms a better fit over the foot, and since it may be covered outside with an additional sock or stocking and also short trousers, it is protected from accidental cuts or 1n ur1es. I

One of the advantages of the garment as described is its extreme lightness as compared to the heavy boots carried by the sportsman, combined with its perfect ventilation.

I claim:

A sportsmans wading stocking com prising a tubular body of flexible waterproof material having a foot fitting portion adapted for insertion into the wearers shoe, said foot fitting portion extending to the ankle, and an enlarged portion loosely extending over the leg with a restricted portion at its upper end-around the thigh and another restricted portion around the leg j'ust'below the knee, both said restricted portions comprising bands adapted to grip the wearefls leg and both bands having a series of ventilati-ng channels extending theret-hrou'gh permitting circulation of air from a point above to a point below the bands within the garment; I

4. A sportsmans wading stocking comprising a tubular'body of thin'wat'erproof material having a foot fitting portion adapted to go into a wearers shoe,.and a portion P extending up over the leg free and loose thereover with a restricted elastic band at its upper end.

5. A sportsmans wading stocking comprising a tubular body of thin elastic rubber aving a foot fitting portion adapted to go into 'a wearers shoe, and a portion extending up over the legfree and loose thereover with a restricted elastic band atits upper end, said band having a series of air passages therethrough fol-admitting air to the interior of the garment.
