Description

June 28 1927.
J. A. TESK BRACKET Filed May 28, 1924 AIFORNEY i atented June 28, 1927.
UNITED STATES JOHN A. TESK, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
BRACKET.
Application filed May 28,
Ihis invention relates to a bracket con struction and more particularly to an improvement over my co-pending application filed March 28, 1924, Serial No. 702,629, and has for its primary object the construction of a. bracket which may be readily turned to operative and inoperative posi tion and when in either position to be ca pable of holding the high chair tray in lifted position.
An object of the invention is the provision of a device which will hold or lock the bracket in either its operativeor inoperative position.
Besides the above my invention is distinguished in the simple inexpensive manner of forming the combination lock and support for the bracket.
lV'th these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of my improved bracket.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation.
Fig. 3 is a plan view showing one position of the bracket in full lines and its other two positions in dotted lines.
Fig. 4c is a .sectional View on the line td of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a detailed vertical sectional view on the line 55 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the collar.
Again referring to the drawing illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention the numeral 1 designates an ordinary high chair having a swinging tray 2. The back of the chair is provided with the sockets 3 and 4. The uppersocket 1 has therein a plurality of radially arranged recesses 5. A cylindrical upright 7 is rotatable in the sockets and extending in a horizontal plane from this upright is a bracket 6 which includes a lower member 6 extend ing in substantially parallel relation with the bracket 6. This upright has arranged therein a plurality of holes 8. My improved device for holding the bracket in operative or inoperative position comprises a collar 9 in which is mounted a pin 10 adapted to be inserted in any one of the holes 8. This collar is provided with lugs 11 for interchangeable insertion into the recesses depending upon whether the bracket 6 is to 1924. Serial No. 716,464.
extend over the chair as illustrated or at right angles thereto.
The member 6 of the bracket 6 is provided with a plurality of lugs 12, 13 and 1 1 so that the tray 2 can be engaged and held in lifted position in either of the three positions of the bracket.
It is, of course to be understood that various forms of lock devices may be used to hold the bracket in its various positions and the bracket may be constructed in various other manners than illustrated. therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. In a device of the character stated, an upright, means for mounting the upright on a high chair for sliding and rotary adjustment means for securing the upright in adjustment, a bracket extending from the upright, a member extending from the upright in parallelism with the bracket and adapted for reception of a swinging tray mounted on the chair when the tray is raised, and tray receiving and retaining members carried by the upright at opposite sides thereof and disposed at right angles to the first mentioned member. 7
2. A bracket including an upright, means for mounting the upright for sliding and rotative movement a bracket extending laterally from the upright. a lug on the bracket in alignn'ient with the upright and opposed lugs attached to the upright and extending therefrom upon opposite sides of the same. all of said lugs being adapted to reoeiveand retain a swinging tray mounted on a chair upon which the upright is mounted.
8. In a device of the character stated. an upright, means for mounting the upright on a high chair for sliding and rotary adjustment, means for securing the upright in ad ju'stment. a member extending from the up JOHN A. TESK.
