Fig. 3 is a-det'a'il of amodified form ofV 30 construction.
The present invention"contemplates the l provision of a chamber,or/box` for comparatively heavy,r copyingcamer-as with p Whlch focusing 'operations .may be readily icarried' out. Vj- To this fend; there is, provided a sitable number oybox-li'ke sections vwhich are'V-telescopically "associated--or;l -related,- v and means for; Supporting and.; adjusting the sections With respect toj-ifeaeh other, andy means for maintaining the proper alignment`of the*sectionsandfor guiding and for causing the sections to move equally at each side of their major or longitudinal axes. In the. present instance three boX- like sections 10, 11 and 12 are provided to constitute a chamber or box With which Will be associated the object lens, shown at 13 carried by the section 12, and a plate or film holder 14 associated With or carried by the section 10. The section is of double Wall construction, there being a Wall 15 and a Wall 16 which are held in spaced relationship by a Wall 17 attached to the Walls 15 and 16 by virtue of flanges 18 on the Walls 15 and 16 respectively. The Wall 17 is sub- 1926. serian No. 109,128.l

In this Way focusing operations are carried out; the section 11 moving'into the section 10, Whereas the section 12 moves into the l sect-ion 11. The flanges 24, 25, and 28 constitute a means for limiting the telescopic movement oli' the several box-like sectlons.
In order to maintain the several sections in alignment, and for aiding in guiding the sections in their movements, and for causing the sect-ions to move equally at each side of their major or longitudinal axes, there are provided pinions 38, carried respectively the sections and 12, and racks '39 car-'l by ried by the Walls and 21 respectively of the section 11. The pinions 38 are arranged in'pairs'ixed to an axle 40 which is mounted in bearings 41. the racks 39 move either With respectA tothe pinions 3S. or are stationary While the pinions themselves rotate. y
It is to be noted that by making the Walls or plates 17, @Band end `Wall 27 removable, it is possible to disassociate the severalboxlike sections. i In Fig. 3 there is shoivn a modiiication in which in lieu of the rectangular Walls or plates 17 and.
to the Walls with Which they are connected,
there is provided a Wall `which is ar r ranged at an angle so as to deflectany and are made of metal to give the desired strength and rigidity and to providel the proper degree of durability.
It is to be understood that the invention is not restricted to the precise. arrangement of parts shownl and described, as details o't construction may be modilied and rearranged Without departing' from the'spirit of the invention, the scope of which is limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
`I claim: I
