UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MEYER SOYBEL, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO INTERNATIONAL FOLDING PAPER BOX CO., INC., 0F NORTH BERGEN, NEW JERSEY7 A. CORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
SUPPORTING DEVICE.
Application led July 3,
My invention relates to supporting devices and refers particularly to devices of this character capable of being formed from a single blank and adapted to support commodities of an elongated form.
The object of my invention is supporting device for certain classes of commodities, especially those having elongated members such as sticks, and which is capable of being formed from a single blank requiring only one glued port-ion, thus allowing economy in production advantageous packing facilities and ease of formation into theiinished device.
Another object ot my invention is a device ot the character described in which the commodity is supported by two. members, both ot which are spaced from the surface upon which the device rests, thus allowing of a lirm support for the commodity.
The above, and other advantageous properties of my device will be evident upon a consideration of this specification and the accompanying drawings.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating one form of the device of my invention, similar parts are designated by similar numerals.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of the device of my invention.
Figure 2 is a cross-section through the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is the blank employed in the production of the device shown in Figure 1.
The particular form of the device ot my invention shown in the accompanying drawings is illustrated in the blank form in Figure 3 which comprises the top 10, 11, the bottom 12, 13 and the side 14 scored at the lines A-A, B-B, C-C and D-D. There is a plurality of holes 14, 14,14 along the score line A-A.
The top member 10 is extended into the end flap 15 having the angular slot 16 and into the end flap 17 having the angular slot 18, and has the score lines A-E and A--F.
The top member 11 is extended into the end flap 19 having the hook catch 20 and 1926. Serial No. 120,413.
into the end Hap 21 having the hook catch 22. There is a plurality of holes 23, 23, 23 along thev line C'-C, in alignment with the holes 14, 14, 14 when the device is in folded position.
The blank is folded along thescore lines into the position shown in Figure 2 and the member 14- is glued at 24 to the lower, inner face of the top member 10.
The bottom members are directed upwardly forming an upwardly directed angular construction, and the hooks 20 and 22 are inserted within the slots 16 and 18 respectively.
The device, when thus constructed, will support a plurality of lollypops 25, 25 when a stick 26 of each is inserted through the two series of holes 14, 14 and 23, 23.
1t isto be noted that by upwardly inclining the bottom, the top members 10 and 1l and the bottom members 12 and 13 irmly v support the lollypops, which cannot be accompli-shed by a device in which the bottomis in abutment with the surface upon which the device rests. Y
l/Vhile the device is shown as a support for lollypops, it is evident that it can be employed with other commodities capable of insertion through the two series of holes.
I do not limit myself to the particular size, shape, number or arrangement of parts as shown and described as these are given simply as a means for clearly describing my invention.
1. In a. supporting device capable of being 'formed from a simple blank, in combination, an upwardly directed angular top having a plurality of holes in the angular edge thereof, an upwardly extended angular bottom having a plurality of holes therein in alignment with the top holes and end members carried by the top members locking the top member and the bottom member in fixed position.
2. In a supporting device capable of being formed from a simple blank, in combination, two top members n upwardly directed anmembers locked to each other to hold the top members land the bottom members 1n fixed position.
Signed at New York city in the county of New York and State ot' New York this 29th day of June, 1926.
