Description

Patented Dec. 6, 1927.
teale221 'l" QFFICE.
MICHAEL J. FELZ, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI.
I SAFETY PURSE.
Application filed September 13, 1926.
My invention relates to purses in which money in the form of bills and coins can be conveniently carried, and my object is to provide a purse of this character whlch is so formed that it may be concealed by an ordinary belt such as is usually worn about the waist to support the trousers.
The purse is provided with suitable means for holding it upon the belt between the inner surface of the latter and the person, so thatsaid purse and its contents will be concealed from View and thereby rendered relatively safe from pick-pockets and holdup bandits. By thus placingthe purse t cannot become lost, nor can it open accldently and thereby permit the contents to become lost.
In order that the invention may be fully understood, reference will now be had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
F 1 is an elevation showing the outer surface of a belt, the purse being shown by dotted lines.
Fig. 2 is an elevation showing the inner surface of the belt, the purse being shown in full.
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective View of the purse removed from the belt and with its flap in open position.
Referring now in detail to the different parts. A. designates a belt such as may be worn by men, women and children. Said belt is provided with the usual buckle B for securing it about the waist of the wearer.
Referring now more particularly to the purse and associate parts, 2 designates said purse which is provided with a pocket 4 in which different kinds of money, valuable papers, etc, may be deposited. One side of the purse is provided with a flap 6 adapted to fold down and cover the opening of the pocket 4-, as shown by Fig. 2'. lVhen folded the flap 6 is reliably held in closed position by suitable fastening devices, snap fasteners being shown in the present instance consisting of sockets 8 and buttons 10.
The purse 2 is provided at its ends with 'lorwardlv projecting metal or other suitable endless loops 12 which are secured to the Serial No. 135,188.
purse by suitable fastening devices such as rivets 14.
The loops 12 are preferably longer than the width of the belt A and adapted to slip upon the latter to adjust the purse to any suitable position, it being preferably adjusted to the position shown bv Figs. 1 and 2,'so that one or both loops 12 may hold the free end G of said belt after the latter has been secured in position about the waist by the buckle B. The loops 12 may be nickel plated or otherwise finished to correspond with the finish of the buckle B, so that they will appear as a portion of the belt instead of elements for holding a purse. The purse 2 is relatively long and narrow to gain capacity and also to prevent its longitudinal margins from showing above or below the corresponding margins of the belt A. In other Words itis preferable to wholly conceal the purse within the belt so that others than the wearer will not suspect the pres ence of the purse. Money and valuable papers are preferably placed within the purse before the belt is secured around the waist, but access may be had to the contents of the purse by loosening the belt'A sufficiently to permit the flap 6 to be unfastened and opened.
From the foregoing description it is apparent that I have provided a purse embodying the advantages above pointed out, and while I have shown and described the preferred construction, combination and arrangement of parts I reserve the right to all such changes and modifications as properly fall within the spiritand scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
a In con'ibination, a belt, a. purse of less width than said belt in order to be concealed by the latter and consisting of a pocket and a flap, and endless loops secured .to said purse and projecting forwardly to slidably embrace the belt.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
