lt is colnnion practice at the present lune to permanently attach a poclet to the bib or apron ot carpenters overalls, which pocket serves the puric'iose ot' a. receptacle :for nails, etc. Pockets oil.I this character are usually constructed of heavy fabric, such as canvas, or the like. They are fairly large as they are divided into a number ot coinpartnients to receive nails ot dilterent sizes,
and as the poclet ispernianently attached to the overalls, it is in the Way when not required.

rlhe pocket illustrated is in this instance shown as provided with an upper strip or extension 7. ',llhe strip or upperextension t serves the function ot supporting` the Weight ot the pocket, and it also serves the purpose oli suplgiorting the inain securing means, towit, snap buttons ott the character illustrated at 9 (see l and The bib or apron C is in this instance shown as attached to the body portion by a line of sewing or the like, as indicated at l0. A flap or overhanging portion 11 is formed, and the upper extension 'l ol the pocket is introduced between the body portion B and the overhringing flap ll. The snap buttons 9 are then applied and the pocket a Whole is thus rigidly supported andsecured; that is, the entire weight oli' the pocket and its contents is supported by the snap buttons 9, and displacement of the pocket is prevented.
The tlap 'll serves tivo inain functions: first, that ol.2 permitting the use ot double snap buttons, the outer snap buttons 9 carried by the Flap 1l. and the inner snap buttons l2 Which are secured. in the body portion. rlhe flap also serves the function ot :forming a guide so that when the wearer of the overalls slips his hand downwardly over the bib, the flap 1l guides the hand di rectly into one or another of the compartinents of the pocket. @n the other hand, if the flap Was eliminated the wearer oi the overalls might have a tendency to insert his hand between the upper edge of the pocket and the body.
While certain features ol. the present invention are incre or less specifically illustrated such, for instance, as enoployine` snap buttons tor the purpose of securing the pocket to the bib or body portion Vot the overalls, it is obvious that other 'lfastening;l ineans may be employed.
I also Wish it understood that the .inaterials and finish of the' several parts einployed inay be such as the experience and 95 judgment of the manufacturer may dictate or varying` conditions may demand.
Havingthus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent s- In a garment of the character described, a bodyzporton, an apron secured to the body 5' porton'and provided with a free overhanging flap, a pocket having an upper extension formed thereon nsertable'between the body
