A CORPORATION OF WEEiT VIRGINIA.
VANITY SET.
Application filed November20, 1926. Serial No. 149,581.
My invention relates to a new and useful vanity set or three piece container and it consists more particularly in a novelcontainer adapted to be used for the reception of toilet articles and boudoir accessories,
, such as powder, rouge, lipstick, pertuinc ainl sories, however, being contained in different individual compartments, which are normally closed, but at all times readily accessible.
My invention still further resides in a containerinwhich ladies toilet articles may be kept in tightly closed, sanitary compartments and yet be readily accessible for use at all times. V
It has frequently been the practice heretofore, to provide a sepai atebon for powder, and another for rouge, while perfume was kept in a separate bottle The lipstick was tossed around on "the tip of the -dresser" or casually placed'in one of the drawers. This practice, not only resulted in frequent confusion and loss of time due to misplacing or mislaying one or the other of these toilet articles, but also resulted in an untidy appearance of the vanity dressing table, because of the multiplicity and heterogeuous character oi the receptacles employed.
It is the object of my invention to obviate these disadvantages by providing a single, compact, unitary container or *anity set in which such toilet articles may be rezu'lily accessible, thus not only eliminating the risk of misplacement or loss of such articles, but also greatly reducing the number of receptacles and containers heretofore employed, thereby giving the vanity dressing table a neat and tidy appearance.
Another object of my invention is to produce a container of this character, which, in addition to being compact and efficient, will also be highly artistic, attractive and ornamental.
For the purpose of illustrating my invention, I have shown, in the accompanying drawings, a form thereof, which is at present preferred by me, since it will give in practice, satisfactory and reliable results, al-
though it is to be understood, that the various instrumentahties of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized andthat my invention is not limited to the-precise arrangement and organiza tion of these instrumentalities as herein shown and described.
In the accompanying drawii'igs:
Figure 1 represents, in detached position, a perspective View of the different elements composing my novel. construction.
Figure 2 represents a vertical sectional view of my novel vanity set in assembled position. t
Figure 3 represents a top plan view otthe lowermost compartment, shown in detached position.
Figure 4 represents abottom plan view of the uppermost combined lid and compartment.
Referring to the drawings, in which like reference characters indicate like parts, '1 designates the lowermost or base member ot-my novel container or vanity set, comprising. the bottomor base 2, and the annular vertical-wall 3. 4 designates a cup or receptacle, open atits top and preferably centrally disposed with respect to, and formed integrally with said base 2 and adapted to be used for the reception of rouge. 5 designates a transverse trough or concave depression in which the lipstick may be placed. The space around said receptacle or cup 4". and said trough 5, in said lower compartment 1. may be unilized for keeping pins and other similar toilet accessories. 6 designates a middle or intermediate con'ipartment, comprising the annular, vertical wall 7 and the bottom or base 8, provided with the pendant annular shoul der or male counter-bore 9 off a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the up per rim or the lower compartment 1 and adapted to seat therein as will be understood from Figure 2. l0 designates the combined lid or cover and uppermost compartment consisting of the body portion 11 terminating in the pendant annular flange 1:2 of a diameter adapted snugly to fit into the upper rim of the middle compartment 6, directly below it, as will be understood from Figure 13 designates a bottle shaped chamber or reservoir for the reception ot perfume, toilet water or the like, said reservoir 13 terminating at its upper end in the neck 1a in which is fitted the stopper 15, While the bottom of said reservoir may be substantially flush with the plane of the rim of the middle compartment 6 thus not in any way interfering With the contents of such compartment.
A plurality of the middle or intermediate sections or compartments 6 may be employed, since each of such compartments may serve as a base for the compartment superimposed thereon, as well as a lid or closure for the compartment on which it is superimposed, and also the shape or contour of said sections 1, 6 and 10, and said trough 5 and reservoir 13, may be varied and modified to suit different requirements.
It will thus be apparent that I have devised a. novel container which is adapted for simultaneously receiving and containing different articles in a sanitary and readily accessible manner, and one which is compact, economical, efiicient and ornamental in appearance. The base member can obvi: ously be cheaply cast or moulded out of glass or the like, as an integral structure,
can also the intermediate and top members.
It will now be apparent that I have devised a novel and useful vanity set which embodies all the features of advantage enumcrated as desirable in the statement oi the invention and the above description, and while I have, in the present instance, shown and described a preferred embodiment thereof, which will give in practice, satisfactory and reliable results, it is to be understood that such embodiment is susceptible of modification in various particulars Without departing from scope of my invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a container of the character stated, a bottom eom 'iartment having a central cup and a transverse trough, an iutern'iediate compartment su iierimposcd thereon and vertically aligning therewith, a lid covering said intermediate ccmpartmcut, a bottle-like receptacle formed integral with and de pending from said lid, the vertical arcs of said bottle-like receptacle and said central cup being in alignment, means for maintaining said parts in vertical alignment, and a stopper for said bottle-like receptacle.
2. In a device of the character stated, a buttom compartment, having a neutral cup and a transverse trough cast therein, an in termediate compartment superimposed thcre on and vertically aligning therewith, a lid for said intermediate comparlmcnt, the lower periphery of said cover and said intcrznediate compartment being provided with an annular pendant male counterborc, adapted to engage the rim otsaid intermediate compartment and said bottom compartnient respectively, thereby to maintain said lid and said intern'iediatc compartment in vertical alignment with respect to each other and said bottom conujiartmcut, a bcttie-like receptacle formed integral with said lid and, depending theretrcan, the vertical arcs of saidbottlc-lilcc receptacle and said central cup being, in alignment, and a stopper for said bottle-like receptacle.
