COMBINATION EXFDSUBE DEVICE AND CONTAINER FOR SENSITIZED MATERIAL.
Application filed. September 24., 1925. serial No. 58,453.
The present invention relates to a C011lb1- nation exposure device and a container for sensitized material. An object of this invention is to provide a box or container for sheets of. sensitized material which is so formed that the sheets may be individually arranged on the container below a suitable negative for exposure.
To this and other ends, the invention cohsists of certain parts and combinations of parts, all of which will be hereinafter described: the novel features being pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the top of the closure from the inside thereof;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the sensitized sheet;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the negative;
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the backing piece; and
Fig. 6 is a sectional view through the device with a negative-and sensitized sheet in position to be exposed.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates a container formed, in this instance, of cardboard and having a rectangular shape. lhis container has a slip closure 2 which has side flanges fitting the outside vertical walls of the container 1 and also has an exposure opening 3 in the top thereof, this opening being smaller than the top, so as to provide a surrounding portion 4 on the top. Within the container is arranged a number of sheets 5 of sensitize material and resting on the top edges of the side walls of the receptacle is a backing piece 6. This backing piece closes the opening 3 in the cover to keep the light rays away from'the sensitized material 5, and, at the same time, it serves as a support for. one of the sheets 5 of sensitized material and also a suitable negative 7. The size of this backing piece may be slightly larger than the inside of the cover so as to make a tight fit with the interior faces of the flanges of the cover. is negative may be a film plate or any suitable picture furnihed with the device or provided by the user by drawing on a piece of transparent or translucent p Pfi cutting out of a picture from a book .or
vide 'a border area or in any other suitable way, as the publication.
The device is sold with the container 1 equipped with sheets of the material 5 and with or without one or more negatives 7 as well as the card board backing piece 6. The user takes out one of the sheets 5, puts it in rear of a negative 7 and exposes it to light rays. After a suitable exposure is made, the sensitized sheets may out-and may be treated in the usual way if desired. However, if the sensitized sheet is not highly sensitive after it is exposed, the picture will be visible for a considerable time on the sheet. In some instances, it is contemplated that the device will utilize waste trimmings from photographic paper occurring in the manufacture of photographic paper. T-his permits the device to be sold at a small price for amusement purposes for use by small children.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the class described comrising a container, a slip cover for said container provided with an opening in its top smaller than the area of the top to provide a border around the opening, a at rigid light proot' backing piece in the rear of said opening substantially coextensive in area with the rear side of the top resting upon the upper edges of the walls of the container, and a negative interposed between the backing piece and the top under said opening and adapted to cover asensitized' sheet supported by '2. A. device of the class described comprising a container, a slip cover for said container provided with an opening in its top smaller than the area of the top to. prod the opening, a at rigid backing piece cit light proof material in rear of the opening resting upon the upper edge of the -wallsof the container, and adapted to support a; sensitized sheet of greater area than the opening in the top beneath such openin and a'negative adapted to be positioned a ove the, sensitized sheet and beneath the border around the opening.
