This invention relates to the class of window Cleaning devices, and has especial reference to that class of devices which may be used from'the inside of a window for cleaning the outside surfaces thereof."

The principal object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the indicated character which embodies novel features of construction and which functions in a novel manner fo lobtaining the results looked for, which are obtained with. the desired eitect, easily and quickly.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of the indicated character which will be simple of construction and comparatively inexpensive.

Referring now more particularly to the several views of the drawing,'it will be apparent that, the device, generally stated, comprises a guiding means 10 in the form of a tube, p reterably of metal and. one which will. have the necessary rigidity, a cleaning element 11. and a manipulatingmoans 12 adapted to be guided for reciprocating movement by the tube 10 tor carrying out the cleaning operations. The tube 10 conof a straight section 18, and a curved section 14-. The manipulating means 1 1, may be di ersely-formulated, and in the present instance, consists of a metal rod 15 having connected therewith a flexible ele ment 16. The flexible element 16 in the present instance consists of a closely coiled wire. The free end of the element 16 has a knob 17 to prevent the hand from slip ping oflv of the end portion of the element while manipulating the same. The holder elastic. bands 20 or the like. The said bands 20 serve for detachably holding a second cleaning element such as the sponge 21, The sponge or its equivalent serves for applying water to the windowpanes whereas, the squeegee serves for removing the water applied to the Windowpane and the particles otdust which will be carried thereby.

In the use of the device, it is only necesslightly. A person on the inside of the room may hold the tube 10 in one hand with that section 13 thereof disposed at the outside and the section 14 extending to the inside then by im parting to the element 16 a reciprocating 1notion, a similar motion will be imparted tothe cleaning element .11. The cleaning element 11 is designedso asto be passed between the lower rail of a top window sash andthe Windowpane'o-f the lower sash, as shown most clearly in Fig. 1.

I claim:

1. A window cleaner comprising a guide tube, a cleaning element, means adapted to be guided for sliding movement in the guide tube, said means consisting of an inflexible rod connected with the cleaning element, and a flexible manipulating portion connected with the rod, the rod projecting beyond one end of the tube with the portion projecting be yond the other end of he tube.

2. A window cleaner comprising a curved guide tube, a cleaning element, means adapted to be guided for sliding movement in the guide tube for causing the sliding move-' ment of the cleaning element, said means consisting of an inflexible rod connected with the cleaning element, and a flexible manipulating portion. connected with the rod, the rod projecting beyond one end of the tube with theflexible manipulating portion projecting beyond the'other end of the tube.
