This invention relates to infants shirts, and Vhas for one of its objects to provide an article of this character which shali embody a nevel construction adapted to hold it in place on an infant, adapted to permit it to be readily applied to and removed from the infant, and adapted to afford maximum protection for the chest and, abdomen of the infant.

lith the foregoing and other objects in view, the nature of which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention lconsists of the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, where- Figure l is a View in front elevation of an infants shirt constructed in accordance with my invention,

The shirt comprises a bo-dy l, sleeves 2 and a strap 3. The body 1 is preferably of the double breasted type, and the overlap-- ping front portions or flaps l and 5 thereof are secured together at their upper edges and at opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the shirt by studs 6 and sockets 7. rlhe studs 6 are carried by the inner flap i and the sockets 7 by the outer flap 5. The strap 3 which extends from the lower edge of the back portion of the body 1 and which may be formed integrally with said portion or made separately and stitched thereto, is adapted to extend between the legs of the infant. The front end of the strap 3 is detachably secured to the lower edge of the front portion of the body l by studs S and sockets 9. The studs 8 are carried by the lower edge of the inner flap t and the sockets 9 are carried by the corners of the front end ef the strap 3, and the studs and sockets are arranged at opposite sidesv of the longitudinal central line of these parts `of the shirt. The outer flap 5 is provided at its lower edge and at opposite sides of its longitudinal central line with openings 10 through which 1927. serial No. 205,720.

As the body 1 is of the double breasted type, the shirt will afford the maximum protection for the chest and abdomen of the ini'ant, and as the flaps 4 and 5 are detachably connected at their upper and'lower edges and at opposite sides of the longitudinal central line of the body, the shirt may be readily applied to and removed from the infant and the iaps will be held in smooth condition across the chest and abdomen of the infant. The strap 3 will hold the body l in piace on the infant by preventing it from creeping or rolling upwardly. The strap 3 may be readily passed between the legs of the infant over the diaper, and its front edge may be readily connected to the lower edge y of the front portion of the body l and when connected it secures together the lower edges of the flaps l and 5.

It should be understood that the drawing is merely illustrative and does not pretend to give exact proportions. Furthermore, the said drawing is illustrative of a preferred construction, it being my expectation that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.

Vhat is claimed is:-

An infants shirt comprising a body provided at its front side with overlapping inner and outer flaps, studs and sockets connecting the upper edges of the flaps and arranged at opposite sides of the longitudinal central line of the flaps, the outer flap being provided at its lower edge with openings arranged at opposite sides of said line, studs secured to the lower edge of the inner flap at opposite sides of said line and passing through said'openings, and a strap connected at its rear end to the lower edge of the rear .i
