man u ng t e. m ns rua p' iqd 1 retain the excrements from the menstrual flow.
It is the object of this invention to provide such a belt havinga pocket therein for carrying an extra absorbent pad in such a position that the extra pad will be unobservable through the, wearing apparel of the woman wearing the belt. 7 I V V This and other objects andadvantages of the present invention will more fully appear from the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference characters refer to a he same or similar various parts throughout, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device,
certainparts thereof being broken away; to
show the construction thereof, and
' taken from front to rear thereof.
Referring to the drawings, a sanitary belt is provided having the front portion 3, the
rear portion t and the wide elastic bands 5 extending between and connecting therespective right and left ends of the front and rear portions. The front portion 3 is formed from two strips of cloth 3 of substantially triangular shape and the said strips are so placed that their edges are alined. The bottom and side-edges of strips 3 are secured together by a tape 3*, while the upper edges are secured together bythe tape from the ends of the strips a short distance centrally to the points 6 and are unsecured between points 6 to form an open topped pocket 7, the said pocket being of wide, long and thin shape. The tape 3" is divided into two sections from the points 6 inwardly and the said sections are sewed or otherwise secured to the upper edges ofthe strips 3 centrally from the points 6 to provide reinforced upper edges. Half snap fasteners 8 are se cured to the upper edges of the strips 3 and are adapted when pressed together to co-operate with each other to close the upper edge,
of the pocket 7. The rear portion 4 of the belt is formed from two strips of cloth 4? edges by the reinforcing tape 4". The front.
and back portions 3 and 4, being ofsubthe wearerl Secured between the pieces 3 and pieces P at the-centers of the bottoms thereof are the short elastic strips 9, while secured to the lower ends of the'strips 9 are the small cloth. tabs 10 having reinforced edges. Apad of absorbent material 11 is adapted to be secured to the tabs 10 as by means of safety pins 12 and to beheld be tween the legs of the wearer against the vaginal cavity whenthe device is in use." The p'ocket17 is of such size that a pad 13 similar to the pad-.11 may be placed therein: to be carried bv the belt when the same is being worn. Theipocket. 7 is of such size as to just accommodate the pad 13 and the pocket being long, wide and thin will pre? vent the pad from bulging and thus being seen through the clothes of the wearer. The
elastic bands 5, when the device is being Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the-device Worn, will act to prevent the pocket 7. from becoming distorted in shape, due to resilient tension of thebands against the entirewidth' of the ends of the strips pocket.
The device will be found to be very useful inactual practice, inasmuch as an extra pad can always be carried in the pocket 7 on the wearersbody and thus embarrassment and confusion will'be obviated when it becomes necessary for the wearer to change pads.
It will ofcourse,'be understood that various changes may be made in the form, de-
stated, consists in the matter shown anddescribed and set forth claims.
' VVhatis claimed is:
in the appended 3? forming the i tails, arrangement and proportions of the va :1. A sanitary belt adapted to fit about the waist of awearer and having means at both front and rear thereof to whichthe ends of a pad 'of'absorbent material are adapted to be" secured, andalso having a pocket formed in the front thereof within which an extra pad of absorbent material is adapted to be carried. u 2. Asanitary belt comprising a front portion composed of two sheets of materi'al-se- I cured together along their bottoms and ends and open at their tops to form a pocket for carrying a pad of absorbent'material, means" for releasably securing the top edges'of said sheets of material together, a. back portion, bands extending between the ends of said material are adapted to be secured.
3. A sanitary belt comprising a front por tion composed of twosheets of material secured together along their bottoms and ends to form a: comparatively long, Wide and narrow pocket for carrying apad of absorbent material, means for-releasably securing connecting the ends of said front and back portionsfland atdapted to e xert pressure even- 1y on the entire'end surfaces of's aid sheets ofsmateriul forming said pocket to retain the pocket in fiat shape and tabs secured to said-front-zind baokbportions to which the ends of a pad of absorbent material are adapted tobesecured;
