Another object of the invention is to provide an outer garment that canbe worn as a coat or in the form of a pair of overalls, and whenworn as a coat, the portion of the garment that cooperates with the coat portion to 2 convert the same to overalls is completely concealed from view, so that the gari'nent when worn as a coat presents a neat and dressy appearance and will give the effect of.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combina tion and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings andspecifically pointed out in the appended claim. g

The crotch piece 12 which cooperates with the front portions l and 5, and the rear portions 8 and 9 to convert the garment into the overall formation as shown in Figure 2 is of substantially diamond shape as shown in Fig ure 3. The upper edge 13 of the crotch piece is permanently secured to the strip 10, while the upper edge 14 is permanently secured to the reinforced edge of the portion 9, and when the garment is arranged in coat formation as shown in Figure 1, this crotch piece is folded upon itself into a substantially triangular formation and secured to the portion 9 throughthe medium of a button and buttonhole connection 15. The crotch piece is provided with a button 16 arranged intermediate the ends of the lower edge opposite the edge 18, and the lower edge of the crotch piece opposite the edge 14; is provided with buttonholes 17 adjacent its ends and a buttonhole 18 intermediate its ends, while a buttonhole 19 is provided in the edge having a button 16 i and is disposed adjacent the. innermost buttonhole 17. When it is desired to convert the garment into overall formation as shown in Figure 2, the front and rear portions cooperate with the crotch piece to provide the leg portions of the garment and the crotch piece 12 is unfolded and the edge provided with the butt-onholes l7 and 18 is secured to the adjacent buttons 7 of the front portion 5 .and the edgeof the crotch piece provided with the button 16 and buttonhole 19 is secured to the edge of the front 4 by the button 16 as suggested in Figure 2, while the rear portions and front port-ions are secured together by their respective button and buttonhole that register with each other.

tion that the advantages and novel features From the above description and disclosure of the drawings it will be obvious that I have provided a combination garment that can be Worn in the form of a coat or converted into overall formation as shown in Figure 2, in an expeditious manner and with very little effort on the part of the wearer, and when the garment is in the form of a coat, the crotch portion which cooperates with the portions 4 and 5 and 8 and 9 to provide the leg portions when the garment is arranged in overall formation as shown in Figure 2 is concealed from view so that thegarment will'be given the effect of an ordinary coat as will be readily apparent.

It is thought from the foregoing descripof my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

A 'convertible garment comprisng a body open at the front and having an opening at the back extending from the bottom thereof to a point adjacent the middle thereof, said last named opening dividing the lower portion of the garment into side portions, means on the edges of said side portions for connecting them together to form legs, a crotch piece in the shape of an equilateral diamond shaped quadrilateral normally folded double when worn as a coat and fastening means on said crotch piece edges when opened and'on said body for connecting the same together in the crotch of the garment.
