UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS HALK, 0F HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR T0 NORTHAM WARREN CORPORATION, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
TOILET KIT.
Application filed March 15, 1928. Serial No. 261,754.
My invention relates to a new and im proved toilet kit.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a toilet kit which shall be useful for.
" thereof, it being understood that the above general statement of the objects of my invention is intended merely to generally explain the same and not to limit it in any manner.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the device in the operative position.
Fig. 2 is a lateral central sectional view showing the device in the closed position.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 but show ing the device in the open position.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the top tray of the device.
The device comprises a box of any suitable shape having acover 11 hingedly connected thereto. A tray 13 is adapted to rest in the top of the body 10, the bottom of said tray resting upon any suitable means provided in the body of the box so as to form a lower compartment 19. The device is provided with any suitable lock and with a hand strap 20. The tray 13 is provided with a holder portion 15 having a downwardly directed flange 18, which rests upon the bottom of the tray 13. This holder portion 15 is connected to the rear of the tray 13 by means of a hinge 17. The holder portion 15 has the top thereof provided with a series of openings 16, in which a series of bottles or jars may be lo cated, as shown in Fig. 1, so as to hold these bottles or jars ready for use, in such position that they are readily visible and accessible.
The front wall of the tray 18 is provided with resilient latch arms 14 which have downwardly bent rear ends, which bear against the flange 18 of the holder portion 15, so that this holder portion 15 is firmly held in the operative position illustrated in Fig. 4 for example.
However, and as shown in Fig. 3, said holder portion-15 can be swung away from the bottom of the tray in order to clean or polish the same. The tray 13 is made of any suitable metal which can be stamped or otherwise formed into shape.
The bottles of toilet preparations, which may be manicure preparations or the like can be placed in the compartment 19 or in the open part of the tray 13, when it is desired to transport the box 10.
l/Vhile I have described the device in the description and claims as being held in the horizontal position shown in Fig. 1, it is ol vious that the action of the device is substantially independent of said horizontal position.
I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, but it is clear that numerous changes and omissions could be made without departing from its spirit.
I claim:
1. For use in a toilet kit, a tray having a bottom portion and a front wall and a rear wall, a holding portion having an angular shape and provided with a horizontal wall having a depending flange which is adapted to rest upon the bottom of the tray, said horizontal portion being hingedly connected to the rear wall of the tray, said horizontal portion being provided with perforations adapted to hold containers of toilet preparations in position, and resilient latch means connected to the tray and adapted to bear against the said depending flange to maintain the said holding portion in operative position.
2. For use in a toilet kit, a tray having a holder portion provided with a vertical flange adapted to rest upon the bottom of the tray, the top of said holder portion having means adapted to hold bottles or the like, and resilient latch means connected to the said tray bearing against said vertical flange and adapted to maintain the said holder portion in operative position.
3. For use in a toilet kit, a tray having a bottom and a front wall and a rear wall, a holding portion hingedly connected to said rear wall, said holding portion being provided with a depending flange at the front thereof, and resilient latch means connected to the front Wall of the tray and bearing holding portion having a series of perforaagainst said flange to maintain the said holdtions therein and being hingedly connected to ing portion in operative position, said lioldsaid rear Wall and resilient means connected 10 ing portion being adapted to maintain conto the toilet kit by Which said holding por- 5 tainers of toilet preparations in position. tion can be held in operative position.
4. F or use in a toilet kit, a tray having a In testimony whereof I affix my signature. bottom and a front Wall and a rear Well, a LOUIS HALK.
