CORNER BRACKET FOR FRAMES.

This invention relates to corner brackets for frames.

The object of the invention is the production of a bracket wherewith the members of frames may be securely connected at their corners. The second object of the invention is the production of a corner bracket which can be easily and quickly connected to the corner of a frame without making any changes or alterations in the members of said frame. The third object of the invention is the production of a corner bracket which can be used for a great variety of frames, such as a window sash, a screen, frames for stage scenery and for various other frames. The fourth object of the invention is the production of corner brackets for frames having members that require to be quickly connected or detached from each other.

In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 represents an outside elevation of a window sash with corner brackets exemplifying the invention; Fig. 2 shows an enlarged fragmentary portion of Fig. 1; Fig. 8 is a left hand side view of Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 indicates an enlarged perspective view of the improved bracket.

A window sash is indicated with the frame comprising the stiles 20, the sill 21, the top rail 22 and the glass 23. The corners of the frame are provided with the improved metallic corner brackets which are each indi cated in its entirety by the numeral 25. The said brackets are each angle-shaped and cor prise the main vertical elongated rectangular member 28 and the vertical elongated rectangular cross member 29 at right angles thereto and the horizontal member 30 at right angles to and extending rearwardly to the members 28 and 29. The member 28 is provided with the openings 31. and the member 29 has formed therein the opening 32. Clamping prongs 33 extend at right angles from the edge of the member 30. To secure the bracket in place the member 30 is brought to bear against the bottom face of the sill 21 at the corner of the frame and it 1928. Serial meooeai.

Having described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim 1s:

1. A corner bracket of the character described comprising a main vertical member and a vertical cross member at right angles to the said main vertical member, said members having openings formed therein, a hori zontal member extending from and at right angles to both the main vertical member and vertical cross-member, and clamping prongs extending up from the horizontal member.

2. The combination in a frame of a pair of stiles, a sill connecting the stiles at their lower ends, a top rail connecting the stiles at their upper ends, a corner bracket connected to the frame at its corners, each comprising elongated rectangular members at right angles to each other in the same plane and bearing against the face of the frame at a corner thereof, screws connecting said members to the frame, a third member of the bracket integral with both the other members and at right angles thereto and having clamping prongs extending up therefrom, said prongs of the brackets at the lower end of the frame forced into the lower member of the frame and the prongs of the brackets at the top of the frame forced into the upper member of the frame.
