The invention refers to filtering and de-' canting apparatus ofthe kind having a filter of textile material arranged within a cylindrical container, the textile fabric-being positioned in immediate proximity to the con tainer wall and extending over a certain height thereof.
According to the present invention the apparatus for filtering and decantation consists in a textile fabric detachably suspended from the top, within and in the immediate proximity tothe wall of a' container, said container having a discharge opening for the, purified liquid, the textile fabric ex tending over said opening and beingsecured to the wall of the container above said open ing, a permeable element being provided also detachably suspended from the top of the container and positioned between the textile fabric and the container wall, so as to provide a minimum distance, that cannot be de- 'creased, between the'fabric and the wall 0 the container., n p An advantage of this particular arrangement of the textile fabric inthe apparatus is that the fabric can be applied and taken off in a very quick manner by simple means and this without requirin any'exact dimen-c sioning of the fabric emp o'yed.
By the special arrangement of this filter, nearly the total contents of the receptacle is utilized as decantation space andif the filter is employed for a chemical reaction the receptacle space serves as a reaction space.
With the filter arran ement according to the invention there is urther obtained the advantage that nearly the total section of the water column is open towards the-top, so that the gas freed during the reaction in the receptacle can take its way without obstacle towards the top to reach the surface ofdthe liquid and to escape towards the outs1 e. l
The vertical disposition of the textile fabric further permits an easy detachment of the mud adhering to the fabric, this detachment being promoted by the oscillation caused by the variation in the circulation of the water and further can be obtained by a washing effect through a counter-current by receptacle a-"s'pace for" the filtrated water 301,035, and in German m m vitfiulfaas. l I

The operation of the device is as follows The water to be filtered is preferably ad -mitted into the apparatus through the central descending tube 4 at a relatively low speed. As the water rises in the receptacle any materials suspended in the water will be deposited u on the fabric 10 while the water passin t rough the fabric will discharge throng the piping connected at the flange 13 through the container. v
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the-same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is 1. A filtering apparatus for filtration and decantation comprisinga textile fabric easily detachablyapplied in the immediate proximity of the shell and along the shell of the apparatus, withits upper edge nailed upon an angle iron secured along the upper edge of the receptacle and with the lower edge adhering in the cavity of an annular bent U iron fastened upon the shell of the receptacle and there tightly fastened by means of sand, and a permeable element applied between the textile fabric and the shell to fabric from the shell.
2. A filtering apparatus for filtration and decantation comprising a textile fabric easily detachably applied in the immediate proximity of the shell and along the shell of the apparatus, with its upper edge nailed upon an angle iron secured alon the upper edge of the rece tacle and with the lower edge adhering in t e cavity of an annular bent U iron fastened u n the shell of the receptacle and there tight y fastened by means of sand, and a metal gauze made from spirally shaped wires a plied between the textile fabric and the 'she to space the textile fabric from the shell. v Y
3. 'A combined decanting and filtering apparatus of the kind specified comprising a textilefabric detachably suspended from the permeable element being top, within and in the immediate proximity of the wall of a container, with its upper edge secured by nails which pass through an angle iron secured along the upper edge of the container, the lower edge of the fabric dipping into a channel formed by an annular shaped iron fastened upon the wall of the container and sealed by means of sand, said conspace the textile 4. combined decanting and filtering apparatus of the kind specified comprising a textile fabric detachably suspended from the top, within and in the immediate proximity of the wall of a container, an angle iron secured along the upper edge of said container, said fabric having its upper edge secured by nails which pass through said angle iron, an annular U-shaped iron forming a channel fastened uponthe lower wall of said container, the lower edge of said. fabric being sealed in said chanel by means of sand, said container having a discharge opening for the purified liquid, said textile fabric extending over said opening and being secured to said angle iron above said opening, a permeable element detachably suspended from the top of the container and positionedbetween-said textile fabric and the container wall, a sec.-

5. A combined decanting andfiltering apparatus of the kind specified comprising a textile fabric detachably suspended from the top, within and in immediate proximity to the wall of a container, an angle iron secured along the upper edge of said container, said fabric having its upper edge secured by nails which pass through said angle iron, an annular U-shaped iron forming a channel fastened upon the .lower wall of said container and the lower ed e of said fabric being sealed in said channel fiy means of sand, said container having a discharge opening for the purified water, said textile fabric extending over said opening and being secured to sai angle iron above'said opening, a metal auze made from spirally shaped wires detac ably suspended from the to of the container and positioned between sai textile fabric and the container wall, a second channel member mounted'within said container upon the wall thereof and the lower end of said metal gauze extending into said second channel.
